A district championship will be on the line when the Mason County Royals football team makes its first trip to Park Hills on Friday night to play the Covington Catholic Colonels.
Both teams are 3-0 in district play with blowout wins over Holmes, Harrison County and Grant County.
Mason County is 7-1 overall and has a four-game winning streak.
Covington Catholic, ranked No. 5 in the Class 4A media poll, is 6 -2 overall. The Colonels opened the season with back-to-back losses to Ryle and Highlands before bouncing back with six consecutive victories.
The Colonels rushed for 490 yards in a 49-28 win over Beechwood on September 20.
In the only other game between the two schools, Covington Catholic defeated Mason County 50-14 last season.
Kickoff on Friday is at 7 p.m.
According to the school's website, tailgating is prohibited at Covington Catholic High School and the Gardens of Park Hills parking lots.
