Clark Co. Lady Cardinals repeat as 10th Region champions

The Clark County Lady Cardinals won their second consecutive 10th Region title and their third in five seasons with a 68-56 victory over the Scott Lady Eagles in the championship game tonight at The Fieldhouse.

Clark County outscored Scott 18-8 in the second quarter to lead 34-19 at the half.

The Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Cardinals 13-5 in the third quarter to pull within seven points, but Clark County used a 26-14 run in the fourth quarter to take its biggest lead of the game at 65-46.

The Lady Cardinals shot 53.2 percent from the field and made 7-of-13 three-pointers (53.8 percent).

Haley Harrison led Clark County in scoring with 20 points.

Shemaya Behanan scored 17 points, Kennedy Igo followed with 11 points and Maleaha Bell added 10 points.

Scott senior Anna Clephane scored a game-high 27 points and Summer Secrist added 20 points.

Harrison, Behanan, Igo, Bell, Clephane, Secrist and Scott freshman Sofia Allen were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Clark County will play 13th Region champion Harlan County in the first round of the St. Elizabeth Healthcare KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen Wednesday at 8 p.m. at BB&T Arena at Northern Kentucky University.

Clark Co. and Campbell Co. win lopsided games in Girls 10th Region Tournament

The Girls 10th Region Tournament got underway tonight at The Fieldhouse with lopsided wins by the Clark County Lady Cardinals and the Campbell County Lady Camels.

Clark County defeated the Nicholas County Lady Jackets 69-36 and Campbell County routed the Bracken County Lady Bears 98-20.

Haley Harrison scored 19 points to lead Clark County to its 25th win.

Lexie Stapleton scored 26 points and Taylor Clos followed with 25 points to lead Campbell County to its 29th victory. 

Campbell County led 39-2 at the end of the first quarter and 71-12 at the half.

The Lady Camels scored 43 points off the Lady Bears' 23 turnovers.

Nicholas County junior Shelby Stafford and Bracken County senior Kinley Ruf were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Clark County and Campbell County will meet in the upper bracket semifinal Friday at 6 p.m.

Lady Cardinals edge Lady Royals 62-61 in OT

The Clark County Lady Cardinals, the No. 1 team in the 10th Region and the defending champions of the region, escaped with a 62-61 overtime win over the Mason County Lady Royals tonight at The Fieldhouse.

Mason County guard AJ Reed hit a three-pointer to send the game into overtime.

The Lady Cardinals outscored the Lady Royals 4-3 in the extra period.

Clark County was without sophomore point guard Kennedy Igo who is sidelined with an injury.

Senior forward Shemaya Behanan  scored a game-high 22 points for Clark County. 

Jasmine Flowers scored 12 points and Haley Harrison added 11 points.

Reed and Victoria Brooks scored 13 points apiece for Mason County. Kara Moran added 11 points.

Mason County lost its season opener to Rowan County in overtime Tuesday night.

Clark County beat Mason County in overtime in the championship game of the 10th Region tournament last season.

The Lady Royals play the Holmes Lady Bulldogs in Covington Monday night.
