Here is a rundown of how the local college and professional basketball players did this weekend:

• Keller Menke hit four three-pointers and scored a career-high 16 points in St. Catharine's 71-66 loss to Shawnee State;
• Darius Miller hit three three-pointers and scored 13 points in Kentucky's 75-73 loss to North Carolina. Miller also has seven rebounds and three steals;
• Chris Lofton scored 12 points as the Iowa Energy improved to 6-1 with a 113-103 win over Sioux Falls in the NBA Development League. Lofton is averaging 12.4 points and 3.6 rebounds a game. He is hitting 50% from the field including 48.4% from three-point range (15-of-31);
• Trevor Setty had 11 points and six rebounds in Pikeville's 85-76 loss to Lindsey Wilson. Setty made three three-pointers;
• Wesley Jones had four points, six assists, three steals and one rebound in Central State's 77-64 victory over Elizabeth City State;
• Chris Owens scored four points and had two steals in Transylvania's 65-57 win over Bluffton.

Three locals in Thomas More vs. Transy game, Owens scores a game-high 19 points

Three local players were on the court in Monday night's Thomas More at Transylvania basketball game. Former St. Patrick standout Chris Owens scored a game-high 19 points for Transy, but Thomas More pulled out a 71-69 victory. Former Mason County teammates Keith Downing and Ryan Hamm are now members of the Thomas More team. Downing scored three points. Hamm played, but did not score. Owens was 8-of-12 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line.

Chris Owens named to the Honorable mention All-HCAC team

Transylvania University sophomore guard Chris Owens of Maysville was named to the Honorable Mention All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference team. Owens averaged 9.2 points and 3.6 rebounds a game for the Pioneers.

Six local college basketball players had games over the weekend. Here is how they did:

• Wesley Jones had 16 points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists to help Central State University rout Wilberforce 92-57. Jones was 4-of-4 on three-pointers;
• Chris Owens scored 12 points and had three rebounds, two steals and one block for Transylvania in a 71-64 loss to Defiance;
• De'Sarae Chambers had 10 points, three rebounds and one assist for the Dayton Flyers in a 72-54 victory over St. Louis;
• Trevor Setty scored five points as Pikeville edged Lindsey Wilson 79-78;
• Kasey Litzinger had two points, one rebound and one assist for Lindsey Wilson in a 65-61 win over Pikeville;
• Darius Miller had three rebounds, three assists and two steals in Kentucky's 81-55 victory over LSU.

• Mikah Turner scored 32 points for Berea College in a 104-70 win over St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Turner has scored more than 30 points in five consecutive games. He is first in the KIAC and fifth in NAIA Division II in points per game (25.588);
• Trevor Setty scored 17 points for Pikeville College in a 78-64 victory over Lindsey Wilson. He also had seven rebounds, two assists and one steal;
• Chris Owens scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds, but Transylvania lost to Manchester 68-64. He also had two assits, one block and one steal;
  
• Darius Miller had three points, two rebounds and two blocks in Kentucky's 72-67 win over Auburn;
• Kasey Litzinger scored three points for Lindsey Wilson College in 76-69 win over Pikeville College;

• Mikah Turner had a double-double with 36 points and 11 rebounds for Berea College in a 96-41 win over Crown College Friday night. He added two assists and one steal. Turner has scored 30 or more points in five games this season. In his last three games, he has scored 45, 34 and 36 points;
• Chris Owens scored 13 points but Transylvania lost to Anderson 91-72 Saturday. Owens also had three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal;
  
• Wesley Jones scored 10 points and had three assists, one rebound and one steal as Central State University ran its record to with an 82-78 win over Lake Erie College Saturday;
• De'Sarae Chambers had five points, two rebounds and two assists and Dayton beat George Washington 59-55 Saturday. It's Dayton's first win over George Washington;
• Darius Miller had five points, one rebound and one steal in Kentucky's 76-68 win over Georgia Saturday;

• Darius Miller did not score, but he played a very solid game as Kentucky pulled out a 61-51 road win over Alabama. Miller had seven rebounds, two assists, three blocks and two steals. He played the entire second half after Ramon Harris collapsed at halftime;
• Mikah Turner scored 17 points, but Berea College lost to Indiana University-East 78-75 in overtime. Turner also had five rebounds, two assists and one steal;
• Chris Owens had six points and four rebounds to help Transylvania beat Manchester 69-55;
• De"Sarae Chambers scored one point and had four rebounds and one steal in Dayton's 60-57 loss to Charlotte.

Here is the how the local college basketball players did today:

• Miranda Hales had two rebounds, three assists and one steal in Berea's 110-29 rout of St. Louis College of Pharmacy;

Owens scores 11 points in Transy win

Chris Owens scored 11 points in Transylvania University's 85-79 win over Maryville last night. Owens was 4-of-5 from the field including 2-of-3 on three-pointers. He made 1-of-2 free throws and had two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Owens is averaging 6.7 points per game.

Chris Owens scores 3 points for Transy

Freshman guard Chris Owens scored three points as Transylvania improved to 2-0 with a 61-44 win over Spaulding tonight. It was the Pioneers' home opener. Owens was 1-of-3 from the field and 1-of-2 from the free throw line. He also grabbed two rebounds. Owens scored eight points in Transy's 65-63 season-opening victory over Centre College on Saturday.

Anderson and Owens Sign with Transy

St. Patrick seniors Nick Anderson and Chris Owens signed letters of intent today to play basketball at Transylvania University. Both players were named to the All-Region Team. Owens averaged 21.6 points per game this past season and is third on the Saints' all-time scoring list with 2,009 career points. Anderson averaged 15.6 points per game his senior season and is 18th on the Saints' all-time scoring list with 1,145 career points. Anderson and Owens Commit to Transy

St. Patrick seniors Nick Anderson and Chris Owens have verbally committed to play basketball at Transylvania University. St. Patrick Coach Jason Hinson says a signing ceremony will be held later in the week.

Royals Over Saints, Miller and Owens Hit 2,000 Point Mark

The Mason County Royals defeated the St. Patrick Saints 94-53 tonight in the 39th District Tournament. Mason County senior Darius Miller scored his 2,000th career point in the second quarter and ended up with a game-high 22 points. St. Patrick senior Chris Owens scored his 2,000th career point in the third quarter and had a team-high 13 points. Owens finished his high school career with 2,009 career points. Mason County scored 40 points off 26 St. Patrick turnovers. Trevor Setty scored 19 points. Jordan Gilbert scored 12 and Ethan King added 10.
Mason County will play Augusta in the district championship game Thursday at 8 pm at Bracken County.
