Lady Royals rout Augusta 89-17 in district semifinal

The Mason County Lady Royals jumped out to a 15-0 lead before the Augusta Lady Panthers got off their first shot and cruised to an 89-17 victory in the upper bracket semifinal game of the 39th District Tournament.

Mason County led 29-6 at the end of the first quarter and then scored 51 straight points. The Lady Royals outscored Augusta 31-0 in the second quarter and scored the first 20 points of the third quarter.

Briana McNutt scored her 1,000th career in the first quarter.

Jordan Frodge scored nine straight points including her 1,000th career point in the second quarter. 

Frodge was 9-of-11 from the field and scored a game-high 20 points.

Erika Simms was 6-of-6 from the field and scored 14 points.

Kara Moran added 10 points.

The Lady Royals shot 67.3 percent from the field including 84.6 percent (11-of-13) in the second half.

Mason County advances to the championship game Thursday night to play the winner of Tuesday night's game between St. Patrick and Bracken County,

Sarah Fite wins state championship

Mason County senior Sarah Fite won the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Girls State Golf Championship today at Bowling Green Country Club.

Fite, who began the day tied for seventh place, fired a one-under 71 and had a two-day total of one-over 145 for a three-shot victory over Murray senior Sarah McDowell.

Fite had 13 pars, three birdies and two bogeys today. She has verbally committed to the University of Kentucky.

Mason County finished eighth in the team competition for the second straight year. Jordan Frodge had a two-day total of 22-over 166 and tied for 27th place.  Charity Arn (182), Erika Simms (206) and Haley White (214) rounded out the scoring for the Lady Royals. The top four scores were used for the team total. 

Fite is the third Mason County golfer to win an individual state championship. Mike Faurest won in 1964 and Jim Striplin was the 1972 state champion. Mason County won the boys team state golf championship in 1967.

Lady Royals 6th, Fite T7 at state golf tournament

The Mason County Lady Royals are in sixth place and Mason County senior Sarah Fite is tied for seventh place after the first round of the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Girls State Golf Championship at Bowling Green Country Club.

Mason County has a team score of  344. Sacred Heart tops the leaderboard at 315.

Fite shot a two-over 74 today and is three shots off the lead. Fite double bogeyed No. 1 then pared the next 10 holes. She followed a bogey on No. 12 with four straight pars. She birdied No. 17 and finished with a par.

Jordan Frodge shot a 79 and is tied for 18th place. Charity Arn had a 91, Erika Simms a 100 and Haley White a 105. The top four scores are used for the team score.

The final round is Wednesday.

Tee times set for state golf tournaments

The tee times are set for the Leachman-Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Championships at Bowling Green Country Club.

The girls tournament is Tuesday and Wednesday. The boys tournament is Friday and Saturday. The girls will play a practice round on Monday. The boys practice round is Thursday.

Here are the tee times for the Mason County Lady Royals, the Region 8 runners-up:

Haley White 12:06 p.m.
Charity Arn 12:15 p.m.
Sarah Fite 12:33 p.m.
Jordan Frodge 12:24 p.m.

Mason County senior B.J. Knox and Fleming County junior Jordan Hughes are individual qualifiers for the boys tournament. Knox will start on Number 10 at 8:39 a.m. Hughes has an 11:39 a.m. tee time on Number 1.

Lady Royals headed back to state golf tournament

The Mason County Lady Royals qualified for the 2016 Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Tournament with a runner-up finish in the Region 8 golf tournament today at the Pioneer Course at Kenton County Golf Courses in Independence.

Scott County won the tournament with a team score of 336. Mason County's total was 355.

Three Lady Royals finished in the Top 7- Sarah Fite with an 80, Jordan Frodge with an 85 and Charity Arn with an 86.

Haley White shot a 104. Erika Simms carded a 112. The top four scores are used for the team score.

The state tournament is October 4 and 5 at Bowling Green Country Club.

Lady Royals Take 8th Place, Sarah Fite T11 at State

The Mason County Lady Royals finished in eighth place in the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Golf Championship- the girls' best finish in school history.

Mason County had a two-day total of +59 696 at Bowling Green Country Club. Madison Central won the state championship with a total of 629.

Mason County junior Sarah Fite shot a four-over 76 for the second straight day and tied for 11th place. Jordan Frodge shot an 82, Charity Arn a 94, Christian Arn a 95 and Erika Simms a 120.

Paducah Tilghman senior Terri Doss shot a three-under 69 for the second straight day and won the individual state championship by one shot over Madison Central senior Tristyn Nowlin.

Lady Royals T10 After 1st Round of Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Golf Championship

The Mason County Lady Royals are tied for 10th place after the first round of the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Golf Championship. Mason County had a total of 61-over 349 today at Bowling Green Country Club.. Madison Central and Paul Dunbar are tied for first place at 316. Mason County junior Sarah Fite shot a four-over 76 and is tied for 15th place, seven shots off the lead. Christian Arn carded an 82. Jordan Frodge shot a 91, Charity Arn a 100 and Erika Simms a 117. Mason Co. Girls Tee Times for Leachman Buick GMC Cadillac Golf Championship

Tee times are set for the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Girls Golf State Tournament at Bowling Green Country Club. A practice round is scheduled Thursday. The first round is Friday and the second round is Saturday. Mason County golfers will begin on No. 10. Here are the Lady Royals' tee times:

Sarah Fite Wins Region, Mason Co. Runner-up

Mason County junior Sarah Fite won the individual 8th Region golf tournament and Mason County was the runner-up in the team standings Tuesday at Houston Oaks Golf Course in Paris. Fite shot a 78. Mason County had a team score of 377. Scott County won the tournament with a 331 total. Both teams advance to the state tournament.

Lady Royals Win Tri-Match at Houston Oaks

The Mason County Lady Royals win a tri-match versus Bourbon County and Montgomery County Monday at Houston Oaks Golf Course in Paris. Mason County had a team total of 169 followed by Montgomery County with a 218 and Bourbon County at 223. Sarah Fite led the Lady Royals with a 38. Christian Arn shot a 46, Erika Simms a 47 and Jordan Frodge a 48. Mason County is undefeated in match play. The final match of the season is Monday versus Pendleton County on Senior Night.

Lady Royals Win Mason County Invitational at MCC

The Mason County Lady Royals won the Mason County Invitational by 24 shots over Ryle today at Maysville Country Club. Sarah Fite claimed medalist honors with a one-over 75. Christian Arn was the runner-up with a 78. Jordan Frodge shot an 88. Charity Arn followed with a 92. Erika Simms shot a 124.

Lady Royals Win the Montgomery County Tournament


 
 

The Mason County Lady Royals won the Montgomery County Tournament by 31 shots today at Indian Creek Golf Course in Mt. Sterling. Sarah Fite was the individual runner-up at four-over. Christian Arn shot an 83, Jordan Frodge an 86, Charity Arn a 97 and Erika Simms a 123.
