Montez Johns signs with KCU

Mason County senior Montez Johns signed today to play football at Kentucky Christian University in Grayson.

"The main thing that helped me choose KCU was they're more about family than anything," Johns said. "As soon as I stepped on campus, everybody was nice. They greeted me right away. The coaches are very welcoming."

Mason County coach Jonathan Thomas is Johns' stepfather.

"Him moving back home this last year, you know, he was a great asset to us," Thomas said.

Thomas said Johns made an impact right away special teams-wise.

"H'es very, very talented; he can run, he can catch," Thomas said.

Johns said KCU plans to play him as a slot receiver. He said he plans on majoring in psychology.
