The Clark County Cardinals pulled out a 60-57 victory over the Scott Eagles in overtime tonight in the semifinals of the 10th Region Tournament at The Fieldhouse.
Clark County trailed by nine points in the first quarter and by eight in the third quarter, but they rallied and took their first lead at 47-46 with 3:39 left in the game.
The Cardinals went up 53-50 with 37 seconds to play. Scott guard Chad Ohmer tied the game at 53-53 with 8.6 seconds to play by hitting a three-pointer from the volleyball line.
Clark County committed a turnover with 2.4 seconds left. Scott missed a long three-pointer at the buzzer.
Ohmer fouled out with 3:20 left in overtime.
Down by a point in the closing seconds, Scott missed a baseline jumper. Clark County sophomore Jared Wellman got the rebound and was fouled with a half second left. He sank both free throws and Scott's desperation shot at the buzzer was way short.
Jordan Graham led Clark County in scoring with 15 points.
Wellman tossed in 13 points and Brenna Canada scored 10 points before fouling out with 2:27 left in regulation,
Nathan Joyce led Scott in scoring with 19 points including 10 in the fourth quarter. David Hunter added 12 points.
Clark County advances to the championship game for the first time since 2012 when they won the region.
