Mason County boys' archery team headed to state after winning region championship

The Mason County boys' archery team won the Region 7 tournament today at the Montgomery County Arena and earned a berth in next month's KHSAA state tournament.

The Royals had a team score of 1,948. Harrison County was the runner-up with a total of 1,942.

Mason County was led by freshman Colton Kinney and senior Jacob Brown with 287s. Kinney had 20 Tens and Brown finished with 17 Tens.

Harrison County won the girls' tournament. Mason County finished in fifth place. 

The Lady Royals were led by sophomore Addison Grosser and eighth grader Eden Abshire with 262s. Grosser had 11 Tens and Abshire had eight Tens.

Mason County High School archery team 63rd in NASP state tournament, Mason County 47th in middle school tourney

The Mason County High School archery team finished 63rd out of 115 teams at the National Archery in Schools state tournament in Louisville. That's one spot higher than last year. 

Addison Grosser was 31st in high school girls and sixth in ninth grade girls with a score of 286. She had 19 Tens. 

Jacob Brown was 63rd in high school boys and 17th in 11th grade boys. He had a score of 285 with 15 Tens.

The Mason County Middle School team finished 47th out of 101 teams and was led by Logan Darnell and Lanie Forsythe.

Darnell had a score of 279 with 16 Tens. Forsythe had a score of 269 with 10 Tens.
