Augusta and Mason County semifinal winners in boys' 39th District Tournament

The Augusta Panthers and the Mason County Royals will meet in the championship game of the 39th District Tournament on Thursday night after picking up lopsided wins in the semifinals on Tuesday night.

Augusta 76, St. Patrick 39
Keeton Bach scored 18 points, Noland Young 17 and Will Kelsch 14 as Augusta picked up its 18th win of the season.

Amari Myrick scored 19 points for St. Patrick which ended the season with a 3-24 record.

Augusta (18-9) only led by four points late in the first quarter, but ended the first half on a 34-9 run and went to the locker room with a 48-19. The Panthers got the running clock with 6:04 remaining in the third quarter.

Braeden Myrick made six 3-pointers and led five Royals in double figures with 23 points as Mason County ran its winning streak to six games.

Teegin Routt scored nine of his career-high 16 points in the first quarter, Garryon McClain followed with 12 points and Cole Horch and Jace Merz each had 10 points.

Noah Nelson had an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double for Bracken County (10-21). Teegan Feldhaus tossed in 11 points and Greg Benedict added 10.

Mason County (15-13) jumped out to a 7-0 lead, was up 43-28 at the half and led by as many as 30 points in the second half.

Myrick scores 26 points in Royals 74-66 win over Bracken County

Braeden Myrick made five 3-pointers and scored 26 points and Cole Horch added 19 points to lead the Mason County Royals to a 74-66 win over the Bracken County Polar Bears on Thursday night at The Fieldhouse.

Noah Nelson had a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds for Bracken County. Nash Jefferson scored 14 points and Teegan Feldhaus added 13 points.

Mason County trailed 12-5 early before reeling off 15 straight points. The Royals led 39-21 in the third quarter. The final eight-point margin was as close as the Polar Bears would get.

Mason County 9-7 will play Montgomery County on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Lake Kelly Classic at Fleming County.

Bracken County (5-13) will host Augusta on Saturday night.

Royals top Polar Bears 81-55 for fourth straight win

The Mason County Royals ran their winning streak to four games with an 81-55 road victory over the Bracken County Polar Bears on Tuesday night.

Braeden Myrick led the Royals in scoring with 26 points and dished out six assists. Cole Horch had 24 points, six rebounds and four steals. Garryon McClain added a career-high 20 points.

Noah Nelson poured in 28 points for Bracken County. Teegan Feldhaus added 13 points.

Mason County (5-1) will be back in action on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. vs. Conner at the Scott Winter Classic.

Bracken County (3-5) will host Bishop Brossart on Wednesday night.

Polar Bears top Saints 77-32

Thirteen Bracken County players scored as the Polar Bears defeated the visiting St. Patrick Saints 77-32 on Friday night.

Ashton Buchanan led Bracken County in scoring with 14 points, Noah Nelson tossed in 13, Teegan Feldhaus followed with 12 and Ben Sweet added 11.

Braeden Myrick makes seven 3s and scores 23 points as the Royals win their eighth straight district championship

Braeden Myrick made seven 3-pointers and scored 23 points as the Mason County Royals won their eighth straight 39th District title with an 83-54 victory over the Bracken County Polar Bears on Thursday night in the championship game of the tournament at Bracken County. 

Myrick made five 3-pointers in the first quarter. Braylon Hamilton made three 3-pointers and scored 19 points. Jake Feldhaus had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Bracken County (11-19) was led by Noah Nelson with 14 points. Jack Whitten followed with 13 points and Chase Archibald added 12.

Mason County (20-11) led 26-8 at the end of the first quarter and 37-24 at halftime. The Royals opened the second half with a 12-0 run and were up 60-34 at the end of the third quarter.

Both teams move on to the 10th Region Tournament at The Fieldhouse.

Saints lose to Bracken County

The St. Patrick Saints lost to the Bracken County Polar Bears 87-41 on Friday night in Brooksville.

Amari Myrick led St. Patrick (1-8) in scoring with 22 points and Abi Ignacio followed with 12. 

Noah Nelson poured in 28 points for Bracken County (4-14). Chase Archibald made five 3-pointers and scored 21 points and Zachary Elliott tossed in 10 points.

Both teams will be back in action Saturday in the 10th Region All "A" Classic at Nicholas County. St. Patrick will play Robertson County at 12:45. Bracken County will face Calvary Christian at 2:30.
