Lady Royals win Rowan County Invitational

The Mason County Lady Royals track and field team won the Rowan County Invitational Tuesday night.

The Lady Royals had 202 points. The Bath County Lady Wildcats finished second with 96 points.

First place finishes by Mason County athletes include:

• Te'a King in the 100 meter dash (12.98)
• Abigail Dawson in the 400 meter dash (1:04.04)
• Paige Decker in the 800 meter run (2:32.11)
• Marissa Scilley in the triple jump (32-01.00)
• Dalton Kindt in the discus (123-00) and the shot put (45-04)
• The girls 4x200 meter relay team (1:57.04)

Lady Royals 4th, Royals 8th at Bourbon co. Colonels Relays

The Mason County Lady Royals took fourth place and the Royals finished in eighth place in the Bourbon County Colonels Relays Saturday.

It was a big meet with 14 boys teams and 15 girls teams including several large schools.

First place finishes by Mason County athletes include:

• Marissa Scilley in the triple jump (33-01.25)
• Dalton Kindt in the shot put (47-0.00) and the discus (!39-08)
• Kaylee Campbell and Alyssa Cracraft in the 2x50 meter relay unified, the shot put relay unified and the long jump relay unified

Bracken County senior Trey Deaton won the long jump (19-10.00).

Mason County was the runner-up in the girls meet and fourth in the boys meet at the Bourbon County Relays in the cold Friday night.

Boyle County won both the girls and boys meets. The Boyle County girls are the defending state champions. 

First place finishes by Mason County athletes include:

• The girls distance medley 400-800-400 (11:19.08)
• Abigail Dawson in the pole vault (9-00.00)
• Marissa Scilley in the triple jump (32-00.00)
• Dalton Kindt in the shot put (47-05.00) and discus (135-05)

Scilley and Bisotti set school record

Mason County senior Marissa Scilley and Mason County eighth grader Alyssa Bisotti set school records at the indoor track and field meet Saturday at the Carmeuse/Mason County Schools Indoor Athletic Complex.

Scilley set the school record in the triple jump (33-04.50) and took second place in the event.

Bisotti set the school record in the 1600 meter run (5:48.25) and won the race.

Mason County senior Dalton Kindt won the shot put competition with a toss of 49-10.00.

St. Henry won both the girls and boys meets.

Mason County finished sixth in the girls meet and 12th in the boys meet.

The Mason County Lady Royals won the Mason County indoor track and field meet #3 Saturday at the Carmeuse/Mason County Indoor Athletic Complex.

The Lady Royals edged Louisville Male by two points.

Bracken County was the runner-up to St. Henry in the boys' meet.

Dalton Kindt signs with Hobart College

Mason County senior Dalton Kindt signed today to play football and further his education at Hobart College, an NCAA Division III school, in Geneva, New York.

Kindt said he had offers from Division I and Divisions II schools, but with those schools, "it was all about football, and I really wanted to focus on the academic side of things."

Kindt said Hobart College has guaranteed paid internships.

"What I want to study is International Marketing, and a minor in Entrepreneurship," Kindt said. "So, really, I will go around the world to do what I want to do and they will pay me."

Kindt played multiple positions on the Mason County offensive and defensive lines.

He said he will compete for the right guard position going in at Hobart. The center will graduate next year and Kindt said the coaches want him to learn the center position as well.

Mason County coach Jonathan Thomas said Kindt "was a blessing to coach."

Thomas said he told the Hobart coach that Kindt "will be a great teammate, a great brother, you know, he's all about putting other guys in front of himself."

Kindt was the indoor state champion in the shot put last year. 

He is not sure if he will be able to compete in track and field at Hobart because what he wants to do academically will take him away from campus during the track and field season.

Three Mason County athletes were named Second Team All-State by the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association. They are:

• Dalton Kindt, shot put
• Rheagan Sizemore, 800 meter run
• Jordan Frodge, high jump

Frodge, Sizemore and Kindt medal at state

Mason County seniors Jordan Frodge and Rheagan Sizemore closed out their careers with medal-winning performances at the Class AA state track and field meet Friday at the University of Kentucky.

Frodge took third place in the girls' high jump (5-00.00)

Sizemore finished fourth in the girls' 800 meter run (2:27.25) and sixth in the girls' pole vault (8-06.00).

Mason County junior Dalton Kindt took fourth place in the boys shot put (45-09.50).

In the mixed unified competition, Mason County sophomore Kaylee Campbell finished third in the shot put (54-01 with Kindt), fourth in the long jump (14-07.75 with Travis Whisman) and ninth in the 2x50 relay (25.51 with Whisman).

The Mason County girls finished in 15th place in the team standings.

Male and Covington Catholic win Mason County meet

The Male Lady Bulldogs and the Covington Catholic Colonels won the team titles in the final indoor track and field meet of the regular season Saturday at Mason County.

Mason County took sixth place in the girls' meet and eighth place in the boys' meet.

Fleming County took ninth place in the boys' meet and 16th place in the girls' meet.

Mason County senior Dalton Kindt won the shot put (46-09.00) and Fleming County junior Robert Applegate won the 3,000 meter run (10:41.71).

The state indoor track and field meet will be held at Mason County this Saturday.

Marissa Scilley sets school new record in the long jump at Mason Co. indoor track and field meet

Mason County junior Marissa Scilley set a new school record in the long jump at 15-09 Saturday at the Mason County indoor track and field meet.

The Louisville Central girls and the St. Henry boys won the team titles.

The Mason County girls finished second. 

The Bracken County boys took fifth place and the Mason County boys finished in sixth place.

Other first place finishes by Mason County athletes include:

• Rheagan Sizemore, 3,000 meter run (11:51.05) and pole vault (8-06.00)
• The girls 4x800 meter relay team (11:11.45)
• Dalton Kindt, shot put (45-00.00)

Bracken County senior Jacob Hamilton won the 1,600 meter run (4:49.75) and the 3,000 meter run (9:59.52).

Mason County will host the final regular season meet of the season this Saturday.

• Bryce Johnson and Danielle Heflin are scoring goals at prolific rate for the Mason County soccer teams. Johnson has 15 goals through five games, including two four-goal games and two hat tricks. Heflin has 10 goals through five games, including a four-goal game and two hat tricks.
• Mason County Lady Royals goalkeeper Nadia McGranahan has two complete game shutouts.
• St. Patrick goalkeeper Nic Cress is five-for-six on penalty kick saves. 
• Mason County football weekly awards- Dalton Kindt is the Brian Payne Player of the Week and Will Caudill is the Offensive Lineman of the Week for the second straight week.
• Alex Luther and Carter Heller of St. Patrick were named to the 10th Region All A Classic Volleyball All-Tournament Team.
