Lady Saints defeat Calvary Christian 9-5

Alex Arn and Allie Cascio both had two hits and two RBI and Caroline McKay pitched a six-hitter to lead the St. Patrick Lady Saints to a 9-5 victory over the Calvary Christian Lady Cougars Tuesday.

Makenna Roush went 2-for-2 with a triple. She drove in a run, stole two bases and scored two runs.

Emma Gallenstein also scored two runs.

St. Patrick (4-9) will be at home vs. the Nicholas County Lady Jackets today at 5:30.

Lady Bears edge Lady Saints 40-36 in district championship game

The Bracken County Lady Bears edged the St. Patrick Lady Saints 40-36 in the championship game of the 39th District Tournament at The Fieldhouse on Thursday night.

It is the Lady Bears' first district title since 2014.

Bracken County led by as many as 10 points in the first half and was up by eight in the third quarter.

A personal 10-0 run by St. Patrick senior Izzy Riggs pushed the Lady Saints into the lead at 31-29 early in the fourth quarter, but Nicole Archibald swished a 3-pointer to put the Lady Bears back in front at 32-31. Archibald's basket started a 9-0 run for Bracken County.

St. Patrick did not score again until Caroline McKay banked in a floater with nine seconds left.

Ella Johnson hit two free throws with six seconds to play to give Bracken County a 40-33 lead.

McKay hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Johnson led Bracken County (19-13) in scoring with 15 points. Archibald tossed in 12 points and Macie Sharp added 10.

Riggs finished with 21 points and eight rebounds for St. Patrick (16-15).

Both teams advance to the 10th Region Tournament.

Lady Saints defeat Lady Panthers 61-53

In a game with nine ties and nine lead changes, the St. Patrick Lady Saints defeated the Augusta Lady Panthers 61-53 in the semifinals of the 39th District Tournament at The Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

Caroline McKay hit two 3-pointers in the first 90 seconds of the fourth quarter to give St. Patrick a 46-36 lead. Augusta scored five straight points to cut the lead in half. The Lady Saints answered with a 9-2 run to take their biggest lead at 55-43 with 2:05 left. The Lady Panthers put together a 7-1 run to get to within six with 1:05 to go, but could get no closer.

McKay hit five 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead four Lady Saints in double figure scoring. Lillian Klee had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Makenna Roush had 12 points and seven rebounds and Izzy Riggs added 11 points.

Megan Jones had 21 points and eight rebounds for Augusta. Laci Tackett scored 15 points and Reagan Tackett tossed in 12 points.

St. Patrick (16-14) will play Bracken County in the championship game on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Augusta ends the season with a 13-15 record.

Lady Saints defeat Carroll County 51-42 on Senior Night

The St. Patrick Lady Saints celebrated Senior Night with a 51-42 victory over the Carroll County Lady Panthers at The Shamrock on Friday night.

The Lady Saints used an 18-1 run to pull away in the second half.

St. Patrick made 15-of-17 free throws.

Caroline McKay led the Lady Saints in scoring with 13 points. Izzy Riggs had 10 points and 13 rebounds. Lillian Klee also scored 10 points.

St. Patrick (15-14) will play the Augusta Lady Panthers in the semifinals of the 39th District Tournament Monday at 6 p.m. at The Fieldhouse.

Lady Saints end four-game skid with a 55-54 road win over Robertson County

The St. Patrick Lady Saints snapped a four-game losing streak with a 55-54 road win over the Robertson County Lady Devils.

Caroline McKay made four 3-pointers and scored 16 points for St. Patrick.  Izzy Riggs also had 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds. 

Ruby Gay scored led Robertson County with 18 points.

The Lady Saints (14-14) will host Carroll County on Friday night.

The Lady Devils (6-21) will be at home Friday night against the Paris Lady Hounds.

Lady Saints beat Bracken County 50-36

Izzy Riggs had 18 points and eight rebounds and Caroline McKay made four 3-pointers and added 14 points to lead the St. Patrick Lady Saints to a 50-36 win over the Bracken County Lady Bears 50-36 at The Shamrock on Thursday night.

St. Patrick (13-10) led 22-13 at halftime. Bracken County (15-11) closed to within two points at 29-27, but the Lady Saints closed the third quarter on a 7-0 run capped off by an NBA-range 3-pointer by Caroline McKay at the buzzer.

McKay opened the fourth quarter with another deep 3-pointer. The Lady Saints would go on to lead by as many as 18 points on their way to avenging a 34-26 loss to the Lady Bears last week.

Bracken County was led in scoring by Gineva Riley with 10 points.

The loss snapped the Lady Bear's five-game winning streak.

St. Patrick travels to Cynthiana on Saturday to play the Harrison County Fillies.

Bracken County will host the Fleming County Lady Panthers on Friday.

A doubleheader split at The Shamrock

St. Patrick and Dayton split a girls' and boys' doubleheader at The Shamrock on Saturday afternoon.

Caroline McKay and Izzy Roush scored 17 apiece and Lillian Klee added 13 points to lead the Lady Saints to a 66-27 win over the Lady Devils. 

The Saints lost to the Greendevils 103-58.

The Lady Saints (12-11) led 42-20 at halftime and held the Lady Devils to seven points in the second half.

In the boys' game, after St. Patrick (2-12) tied the score at 30-30, Dayton scored nine straight points to begin a 23-8 run to close out the first half.

Garrett Tesmer made 6 3-pointers and scored a career-high 26 points for the Saints. Amari Myrick added 17 points.

Mason Johnson scored 35 points for Dayton.

St. Patrick will host Manchester for a girls' and boys' doubleheader on Tuesday night.

Lady Saints beat Augusta 68-58

Four St. Patrick starters scored in double figures and the Lady Saints defeated the Augusta Lady Panthers 68-58 at The Shamrock on Wednesday night.

Lillian Klee scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Makenna Roush tossed in 15 points, Izzy Riggs had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Caroline McKay added 12 points.

Laci Tackett poured in 27 points for Augusta. Reagan Tackett added 18 points for the Lady Panthers.

After trailing 21-19 in the second quarter, the Lady Saints went on a 21-2 run which began with 10 straight points.

St. Patrick (11-7) will play the Pendleton County Lady Wildcats in Falmouth on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Augusta (6-8) will be back in action on Thursday night at home vs. Bracken County.

Lady Saints rout Covington Latin 55-8

The St. Patrick Lady Saints jumped out to a 37-0 lead and routed Covington Latin 55-8 on Monday afternoon at The Shamrock.

Covington Latin (0-10) did not score its first point until the 41 second mark of the second quarter and didn't make its first field goal until there was just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Caroline McKay led St. Patrick (10-7) with 16 points.

The Lady Saints will host the Augusta Lady Panthers on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The St. Patrick Lady Saints cut a 30-point third quarter deficit to 12 late in the game, but could get no closer and lost to the Bishop Brossart Lady 'Stangs 69-52 on Tuesday night in the semifinals of the 10th Region All "A" Classic at Paris.

Caroline McKay hit six 3-pointers and led St. Patrick in scoring with 20 points. Izzy Riggs had 18 points and 10 rebounds.

McKay and Riggs were named to the All-Tournament Team. Makenna Roush was named to the All-Academic Team.

The Lady Saints (9-6) will host the Campbell County Lady Camels on Friday night.

Lady Royals rally to beat Lady Saints 53-43 in OT

The Mason County Lady Royals rallied from an eight-point fourth quarter deficit and beat the St. Patrick Lady Saints 53-43 on Wednesday night at The Fieldhouse.

Makenna Roush hit a 3-pointer to give St. Patrick its biggest lead of the game at 41-33 with 4:56 remaining in regulation.

Macey Littleton started the comeback with a 3-pointer with 3:34 to go.

Sarah Payne hit two free throws with 55 seconds left to tie the score at 42-42, the only tie in the game.

The Lady Royals scored the first nine points of the extra period.

Littleton scored a game-high 18 points. 

Caroline McKay hit five 3-pointers and led St. Patrick is scoring with 16 points. Roush followed with 11 points and Emma Gallenstein added 10 points.

Mason County (7-7) will travel to West Liberty on Monday night to play Morgan County.

Izzy Riggs hits buzzer-beater to give Lady Saints a 43-40 win in the championship game at Ripley

Izzy Riggs banked in a buzzer-beater from near half-court to give the St. Patrick Lady Saints a 43-40 win over the Ripley Lady Jays in the championship game of the Ripley Holiday Classic on Friday night. 

Ripley used a box-and-one defense to limit Caroline McKay to eight points, but other players stepped up for the Lady Saints.

Makenna Roush made a 3-pointer to give the Lady Saints a 40-38 lead. Ripley tied the game with a couple of free throws and had a chance to take the lead, but missed a shot. St. Patrick grabbed the rebound and called time out with 2.1 seconds to play. McKay took it in front of the Ripley bench. Riggs caught the pass a few feet into front court and hit the game-winning basket.

Riggs finished with a game-high 15 points. Riggs and McKay were named to the All-Tournament Team. 

St. Patrick (8-3) will play at Eastern Brown on Monday night.

McKay hits eight 3-pointers and scores 26 points as Lady Saints rally for a win over Bethel Tate

Caroline McKay hit eight 3-pointers and scored a career-high 26 points and the St. Patrick Lady Saints rallied to beat the Bethel-Tate Tigers 44-39 on Thursday in the semifinals of the Ripley Holiday Classic.

After scoring just 23 points through the first three quarters, St. Patrick outscored Bethel-Tate 21-2 in the fourth quarter. 

McKay made four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Saints (7-3) will play in the championship game on Friday at 5 p.m.

Caroline McKay hit a 3-pointer with nine seconds to play to give the St. Patrick Lady Saints to a 54-53 win over the East Carter Lady Raiders on Monday night in Grayson.

Makenna Roush scored a game-high 17 points, McKay finished with 11 points and Emma Gallenstein had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Saints head to Christmas break with a 6-3 record. They will be back in action on December 29 vs. Bethel-Tate in the Ripley Holiday Tournament.

Lady Saints pull away in the second half for a 44-33 road win over Georgetown

The St. Patrick Lady Saints outscored the Georgetown Lady  G-Men 23-12 in the second half and won 44-33 Thursday night in Georgetown.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair before the two teams were tied 21-21 at halftime.

St. Patrick led 36-28 after three quarters. Caroline McKay hit a three-pointer to push the lead out to nine at 39-30 with 4:51 left in the game.

The Lady G-Men closed the gap to six points with 3:07 remaining, but the Lady Saints scored the final five points to secure their second straight win.

McKay scored 15 of her game-high 17 points in the second half. Izzy Riggs added 13 points.

Lady Saints use balance scoring to defeat Augusta 62-44

All five St. Patrick starters scored in double figures in the Lady Saints' 62-44 road win over the Augusta Lady Panthers tonight.

Emma Gallenstein and Izzy Riggs both had double-doubles. Gallenstein scored a career-high 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Riggs had 10 points and 15 rebounds.

Caroline McKay scored 12 points, Lillian Klee 11 and Makenna Roush 10.

Augusta (3-4) was led by Reagan Tackett with 15 points including four three-pointers.

The St. Patrick Lady Saints lost to Henry County 46-39 and routed Villa Madonna 65-16 today on Day 2 of the Donna Murphy Classic at Newport.

Caroline McKay, Izzy Riggs and Makenna Roush each scored 10 points in the loss to Henry County.

McKay scored her 1,000 career point in the win over Villa Madonna.

The St. Patrick Lady Saints lost to the Walton-Verona Bearcats 65-34 tonight the Donna Murphy Classic at Newport. It's the Lady Saints' first loss of the season.

Caroline McKay made four three-pointers and led St. Patrick (2-1) in scoring with 14 points.

The Lady Saints head back to the classic on Saturday to play Henry County at 9:45 a.m.
