Josh Walton signs with Cincinnati Christian University

Today was the last day of school for St. Patrick seniors, and Josh Walton went out on a high note by signing to play basketball at Cincinnati Christian University, an NAIA Division II school.

"I've always wanted to play college (basketball), so I had to keep working harder and harder to get to that point," Walton said. "And I'm still going to have to keep working harder."

Walton said he will major in sports management.

"We talk all year about a variety of ways to define success and not necessarily just the win-loss column," St. Patrick coach John Kirkpatrick said. "And I think helping a fine young man get the opportunity to play college basketball is definitely a solid way to measure success. And so, we're very happy at what this is going to do for our program and what it's going to do for Josh and his family."

Kirkpatrick talked about Walton being a hard worker.

"With the injuries we battled a lot this year, Josh was asked to step up and really be a primary scoring threat and a primary leader for us on the basketball floor. And I think he handled that role extremely well."
