Trevor Setty elected to UPIKE Hall of Fame

The University of Pikeville 2022 Hall of Fame Class includes former Mason County Royal Trevor Setty.

Setty was a member of UPIKE's 2011 NAIA National Championship team. He scored 32 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in the championship game and was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

Setty led the Bears in scoring his senior season (2011-12) and is eighth on UPIKE's all-time scoring list with 1,812 points.

He was named All-Mid South Conference First Team his junior and senior seasons. He was NAIA All-American Honorable Mention as a junior and NAIA Second Team All-American as a senior.

The Hall of Fame Ceremony is scheduled on Saturday, October 22.

Here are a few hoops notes as we head into the second weekend of December:

• Wesley Jones hit six three-pointers and scored 31 points to lead Central State University to a 78-74 win over Gannon University Tuesday night. Jones was 7-of-12 from the field, 6-of-8 from three-point range and he sank 11-of-13 free throws. Jones also had two rebounds one steal;
• Treg Setty's 26 points in Mason County's season-opening win over Pendleton County moved him past Jon Ross and Fred Hester into 30th place on the Royals' all-time scoring list. Setty has 881 career points;
• Trevor Setty scored 18 points in Pikeville College's 122-71 victory over Alice Lloyd College. He is averaging 14.45 points a game;
• In their last 76 games against 10th Region opponents, the Mason County Royals are 71-5. Mason County's record vs. 10th Region teams from the 2000-01 season through Wednesday night's win is 157-11.

Here is a rundown of how the local college and professional basketball players did this weekend:

• Keller Menke hit four three-pointers and scored a career-high 16 points in St. Catharine's 71-66 loss to Shawnee State;
• Darius Miller hit three three-pointers and scored 13 points in Kentucky's 75-73 loss to North Carolina. Miller also has seven rebounds and three steals;
• Chris Lofton scored 12 points as the Iowa Energy improved to 6-1 with a 113-103 win over Sioux Falls in the NBA Development League. Lofton is averaging 12.4 points and 3.6 rebounds a game. He is hitting 50% from the field including 48.4% from three-point range (15-of-31);
• Trevor Setty had 11 points and six rebounds in Pikeville's 85-76 loss to Lindsey Wilson. Setty made three three-pointers;
• Wesley Jones had four points, six assists, three steals and one rebound in Central State's 77-64 victory over Elizabeth City State;
• Chris Owens scored four points and had two steals in Transylvania's 65-57 win over Bluffton.

• Setty hit five three-pointers and equaled his season-high of 19 points as Pikeville College beat Bluefield College 92-62. Setty also had seven rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals;
• Jones scored a team-high 19 points, but Central State University lost to Elizabeth City University 80-72. Jones hit four three-pointers and had six rebounds and one assist;

Here is the latest on the local professional and college basketball and football players:

• Chris Lofton scored nine points in his first regular season game in the NBA D-League. Lofton also had five rebounds and four steals as the Iowa Energy defeated the Dakota Wizards 113-92 Friday night in Bismark. The same two teams play tonight in Des Moines;
• Darius Miller had a big game in Kentucky's 79-48 rout of Portland Friday night. Miller scored 15 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists. He also had a career high five steals and four blocks. Miller was 6-of-7 from the field including 3-of-4 on three pointers;
• Trevor Setty hit three three-pointers and scored 16 points as Pikeville College improved to 4-1 with an 87-61 victory over Alice Lloyd College Friday night;
• Central State University senior guard Wesley Jones scored 14 points in the Marauders' 76-72 season-opening win over Lincoln University Nov. 13. Jones scored four points and had five rebounds, one assist and one steal in CSU's 70-53 loss to Wayne State University Tuesday night;
• Stephen Howell had one carry for five yards in his Senior Day game and Centre College beat defeated LaGrange College 48-7 Nov. 13. Howell was injured most of his senior season;
• Chris Marshall played in nine games for Ohio Wesleyan this season. He rushed for 100 yards on 36 carries. He also had six receptions for 38 yards.

• Former Mason County football players Jackson Tolle and Colt Fearis will receive Mid-South Conference Championship rings. Georgetown College won its 17th conference title. The Tigers play MidAmerica Nazarene Saturday in the first round of the NAIA playoffs;
• Mason County offensive tackle Alex Newton has been invited to playin the Kentucky All-Star football game. A team of Louisville all-stars will play a team of all-stars from the rest of the state;
• The Mason County Royals will host the Highland Bluebirds in the 2011 football season. Highlands has won 19 state championships. The Bluebirds have won three consecutive Class 5A state titles. Highlands will drop down to Class 4A next season;
• Trevor Setty scored a season-high 19 points for Pikeville College in the Tigers' 108-71 victory over Glenville State on Nov. 10

Miller has double-double UK's win over Pikeville, Setty scores 7 for Bears

Darius Miller scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the University of Kentucky's 97-66 exhibition win over the Pikeville Bears at Rupp Arena tonight. Miller was 11-of-12 from the free throw line. He also had three assists, two blocks and one steal. Trevor Setty scored seven points and had four rebounds and three steals for Pikeville. Setty fouled out with 5:51 left in the game.

Miller and Setty on opposing sides tonight

Darius Miller and Trevor Setty, teammates on Mason County's 2008 state championship team, will be on opposing sides tonight when the Kentucky Wildcats host the Pikeville College Bears in an exhibition game at Rupp Arena. Miller is a 6-7 junior at Kentucky. Setty is a 6-9 sophomore at Pikeville. Setty scored 10 points in the Bears' season-opening win over Temple Baptist College Friday night. Former Mason County Coach Kelly Wells is the head coach at Pikeville College. Miller was an eighth grader on Mason County's 2004 state runner-up team coached by Wells. Wells guided Mason County to its first state championship in 2003.

Trevor Setty scored 13 points for Pikeville College in a 94-80 loss to Rio Grande last night. Pikeville closes out the regular season Saturday night at the University of the Cumberlands.
Darius Miller started and had seven points, eight rebounds, two blocks and one assist in Kentucky's 82-61 win over South Carolina last night. The Wildcats play at Tennessee Saturday at noon.

Trevor Setty leads Pikeville past Georgetown

Trevor Setty scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Pikeville College Bears to a 76-65 win over the Georgetown College Tigers last night in Pikeville. Setty was 8-of-12 from the field including 3-of-6 on three-point shots. He was 6-of-9 from the free throw line and had five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Pikeville College is 14-2 overall and 2-1 in the Mid-South Conference.

Trevor Setty red hot in 32-point game for Pikeville College

Trevor Setty scored 32 points to lead the Pikeville College Bears to a 95-47 win over Virginia Intermont College Monday night. Setty was 13-of-15 from the field including 6-of-8 on three-pointers. He had eight rebounds, three assists and one block. In three games since becoming eligible after transferring from Georgetown College, Setty is averaging 21.7 points. Pikeville (11-1) hosts Temple Baptist tonight.

• In his first game with Pikeville College, Trevor Setty led the No. 9 Bears with 21 points in a 114-62 win over Ohio State-Mansfield. Setty, who transferred from Georgetown College, gained his eligibility Friday when the fall semester ended;

Trevor Setty now a Pikeville College Bear

Former Mason County basketball standout Trevor Setty has transferred to Pikeville College and will play for former Mason County coach Kelly Wells. Setty, a 2008 graduate of Mason County High School, originally signed with Georgetown College and was redshirted last season. He will be eligible to play this season for Pikeville College. Setty averaged 14.3 points per game for Mason County's 2008 state championship team. He is 19th on the Royals' all-time scoring list with 1,050 career points.
