Lady Saints fall to Walton-Verona 15-3

St. Patrick only had three hits in a 15-3 loss to the Walton-Verona Lady Bearcats in six innings in the Lady Saints final home game of the season Thursday.

One of the three hits was a solo home run by pitcher Makenna Roush.

Roush struck out six batters giving her 101 for the season.

St. Patrick (7-12) will close out the season today at Villa Madonna. The first pitch is scheduled at 5:30 p.m.

Lady Saints shutout Augusta 10-0 on Senior Night

Makenna Roush pitched a one-hitter, striking out eight and walking one as the St. Patrick Lady Saints celebrated Senior Night with a 10-0 victory over the Augusta Lady Panthers in five innings Wednesday evening,

Allie Cascio went 2-for-3 with a triple, a walk, a stolen base, two runs scored and two RBI.

The Lady Saints have won two straight games and three of four to improve their record to 7-11. They play their final home game of the season today at 6 p.m.

Makenna Roush leads St. Patrick to a 10-5 win over Bellevue

Makenna Roush went 4-for-5 with a double, a home run, three runs scored and four RBI and pitched a four-hitter as the St. Patrick Lady Saints defeated the Bellevue Lady Tigers 10-5 in Bellevue Wednesday.

Roush struck out 14 and walked six for her fourth win of the season.

Emma Gallenstein had three RBI.

The Lady Saints (6-11) play at Robertson County on May 8.

Lady Saints shutout Ludlow 13-0

Makenna Roush threw a two-hitter and struck out 12 and the St. Patrick Lady Saints shutout the Ludlow Lady Panthers 13-0 in six innings at Ludlow Saturday.

Emma Gallenstein went 3-for-4 with a triple, a home run, five RBI and two runs.

St. Patrick (5-10) has won three of its last four games. The Lady Saints host the Augusta Lady Panthers Monday at 8 p.m.

Lady Saints defeat Calvary Christian 9-5

Alex Arn and Allie Cascio both had two hits and two RBI and Caroline McKay pitched a six-hitter to lead the St. Patrick Lady Saints to a 9-5 victory over the Calvary Christian Lady Cougars Tuesday.

Makenna Roush went 2-for-2 with a triple. She drove in a run, stole two bases and scored two runs.

Emma Gallenstein also scored two runs.

St. Patrick (4-9) will be at home vs. the Nicholas County Lady Jackets today at 5:30.

Lady Saints snap losing streak with an 8-7 win over Paris

Alex Arn went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and 3 RBI as the St. Patrick Lady Saints snapped a five-game losing streak with an 8-7 victory over the Paris Lady Hounds in Paris Monday. 

Makenna Roush went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and allowed just two earned runs while striking out three and walking two in picking up her second win of the season. 

St. Patrick (3-9) hosts Calvary Christian today at 5:30 p.m.

Makenna Roush signs with Spalding, Kaylen Gallenstein signs with Midway

St. Patrick seniors Makenna Roush and Kaylen Gallenstein signed Friday to continue their academic and athletic careers at the college level.

Roush will play softball at Spalding University while Gallenstein will play volleyball at Midway University.

Roush is batting .306 with one home run and 11 RBI for the Lady Saints. She has been the starting pitcher for nine of St. Patrick's 10 games this season and picked up a save in the game in which she didn't start.

Roush was the third leading scorer on the basketball team this past season and also played volleyball and soccer for the Lady Saints.

Gallenstein had 84 kills, 96 blocks, 11 assists, 54 digs and 26 service aces last season.

Lady Royals fall to Fleming County, host GRC today; Lady Saints fall to Ripley

Kenzie Gulley went 3-for-4, stole four bases and scored two runs, but the Mason County Lady Royals suffered a 9-4 road loss to the Fleming County Lady Panthers Wednesday. 

The Lady Panthers outhit the Lady Royals 12-8.

Mason County (10-11) hosts George Rogers Clark today at 6 p.m.

Playing their first game since April 4, the St. Patrick Lady Saints lost to the Ripley Lady Jays 20-1 in four innings at Ripley Wednesday.

Makenna Roush had three of the Lady Saints' six hits.

St. Patrick (2-9) plays at Holmes Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Roush and Kirk with 8 RBI games on the same day

An eight-RBI game is a fairly rare occurrence, but two local high school softball players — St. Patrick senior Makenna Roush and Mason County senior Kennadi Kirk — sophomore Bryce Pollitt and eighth grader Dillon Mitchell — pulled it off on the same day last week.

On Thursday, Roush went 3-for-4 with a triple, a home run and eight-RBI in the Lady Saints' 18-1 win over the Augusta Lady Panthers in three innings.

Roush also pitched and threw a two-hitter and struck out six.

On the same day, Kirk went 4-for-5 with two home runs and eight RBI in the Lady Royals' 11-10 loss to the Bath County Wildcats.

Lady Saints defeat Lady Panthers 61-53

In a game with nine ties and nine lead changes, the St. Patrick Lady Saints defeated the Augusta Lady Panthers 61-53 in the semifinals of the 39th District Tournament at The Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

Caroline McKay hit two 3-pointers in the first 90 seconds of the fourth quarter to give St. Patrick a 46-36 lead. Augusta scored five straight points to cut the lead in half. The Lady Saints answered with a 9-2 run to take their biggest lead at 55-43 with 2:05 left. The Lady Panthers put together a 7-1 run to get to within six with 1:05 to go, but could get no closer.
McKay hit five 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead four Lady Saints in double figure scoring. Lillian Klee had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Makenna Roush had 12 points and seven rebounds and Izzy Riggs added 11 points.

Megan Jones had 21 points and eight rebounds for Augusta. Laci Tackett scored 15 points and Reagan Tackett tossed in 12 points.

St. Patrick (16-14) will play Bracken County in the championship game on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Augusta ends the season with a 13-15 record.

Lady Saints lose to Ludlow 62-46

The St. Patrick Lady Saints were outscored 23-6 in the third quarter and lost to the Ludlow Lady Panthers 62-46 at Ludlow on Tuesday night.

The score was tied at 21-all at halftime. 

Makenna Roush led the Lady Saints with 16 points. Izzy Riggs scored 13 points.

St. Patrick (13-12) will host Pendleton County on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Lady Saints suffer road loss to Pendleton County

The St. Patrick Lady Saints hung with Pendleton County on the Lady Wildcats' homecourt, but lost 50-43 on Saturday afternoon.

After leading 23-22 at halftime, Pendleton County outscored St. Patrick 20-11 in the third quarter.

Makenna Roush scored 14 points and Izzy Riggs added 12 for the Lady Saints.

St. Patrick (11-8) will play at Bracken County on Tuesday night.

Lady Saints beat Augusta 68-58

Four St. Patrick starters scored in double figures and the Lady Saints defeated the Augusta Lady Panthers 68-58 at The Shamrock on Wednesday night.

Lillian Klee scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Makenna Roush tossed in 15 points, Izzy Riggs had 14 points and 12 rebounds and Caroline McKay added 12 points.

Laci Tackett poured in 27 points for Augusta. Reagan Tackett added 18 points for the Lady Panthers.

After trailing 21-19 in the second quarter, the Lady Saints went on a 21-2 run which began with 10 straight points.

St. Patrick (11-7) will play the Pendleton County Lady Wildcats in Falmouth on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Augusta (6-8) will be back in action on Thursday night at home vs. Bracken County.

Lady Saints fall to Campbell County

 A lopsided third quarter doomed the St. Patrick Lady Saints in a 55-44 loss to the Campbell County Lady Camels at The Shamrock on Friday night.

St. Patrick led 21-19 at halftime, but the Lady Camels outscored the Lady Saints 23-8 in the third quarter. 

The Lady Saints (9-7) cut the deficit to eight at 48-40, but that's as close as they would get.

Izzy Riggs scored a game-high 17 points for St. Patrick. Makenna Roush added 13 points.

The Lady Saints will host Covington Latin on Monday at 2 p.m.

Lady Royals rally to beat Lady Saints 53-43 in OT

The Mason County Lady Royals rallied from an eight-point fourth quarter deficit and beat the St. Patrick Lady Saints 53-43 on Wednesday night at The Fieldhouse.

Makenna Roush hit a 3-pointer to give St. Patrick its biggest lead of the game at 41-33 with 4:56 remaining in regulation.

Macey Littleton started the comeback with a 3-pointer with 3:34 to go.

Sarah Payne hit two free throws with 55 seconds left to tie the score at 42-42, the only tie in the game.

The Lady Royals scored the first nine points of the extra period.

Littleton scored a game-high 18 points. 

Caroline McKay hit five 3-pointers and led St. Patrick is scoring with 16 points. Roush followed with 11 points and Emma Gallenstein added 10 points.

Mason County (7-7) will travel to West Liberty on Monday night to play Morgan County.

St. Patrick (8-5) will play St. Joseph Central on Saturday in Ironton, Ohio.

Lady Saints suffer road loss to Eastern Brown 54-49

The St. Patrick Lady Saints had their three-game winning streak snapped by a 54-49 road loss to the Eastern Brown Lady Warriors on Monday night.

St. Patrick (8-4) was led in scoring by Izzy Riggs with 14 points. Makenna Roush tossed in 10 points.

The Lady Saints will be back action on Wednesday night vs. the Mason County Lady Royals at The Fieldhouse.

Izzy Riggs hits buzzer-beater to give Lady Saints a 43-40 win in the championship game at Ripley

Izzy Riggs banked in a buzzer-beater from near half-court to give the St. Patrick Lady Saints a 43-40 win over the Ripley Lady Jays in the championship game of the Ripley Holiday Classic on Friday night. 

Ripley used a box-and-one defense to limit Caroline McKay to eight points, but other players stepped up for the Lady Saints.

Makenna Roush made a 3-pointer to give the Lady Saints a 40-38 lead. Ripley tied the game with a couple of free throws and had a chance to take the lead, but missed a shot. St. Patrick grabbed the rebound and called time out with 2.1 seconds to play. McKay took it in front of the Ripley bench. Riggs caught the pass a few feet into front court and hit the game-winning basket.

Riggs finished with a game-high 15 points. Riggs and McKay were named to the All-Tournament Team. 

St. Patrick (8-3) will play at Eastern Brown on Monday night.

McKay hits a late 3-pointer and Lady Saints edge East Carter

Caroline McKay hit a 3-pointer with nine seconds to play to give the St. Patrick Lady Saints to a 54-53 win over the East Carter Lady Raiders on Monday night in Grayson.

Makenna Roush scored a game-high 17 points, McKay finished with 11 points and Emma Gallenstein had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lady Saints head to Christmas break with a 6-3 record. They will be back in action on December 29 vs. Bethel-Tate in the Ripley Holiday Tournament.

Lady Saints fall behind early, lose to Bellevue 58-48

The St. Patrick Lady Saints trailed 15-4 at the end of the first quarter and 28-7 at halftime in a 58-48 loss to the Bellevue Tigers at The Shamrock on Saturday.

The loss snapped the Lady Saints' three-game winning streak.

St. Patrick (5-3) was led on scoring by Caroline McKay with 17 points. Makenna Roush added 16 points and Izzy Riggs had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lady Saints will play the East Carter Lady Raiders in Grayson on Monday at 6 p.m.

Lady Saints use balance scoring to defeat Augusta 62-44

All five St. Patrick starters scored in double figures in the Lady Saints' 62-44 road win over the Augusta Lady Panthers tonight.

Emma Gallenstein and Izzy Riggs both had double-doubles. Gallenstein scored a career-high 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Riggs had 10 points and 15 rebounds.

Caroline McKay scored 12 points, Lillian Klee 11 and Makenna Roush 10.

Augusta (3-4) was led by Reagan Tackett with 15 points including four three-pointers.

St. Patrick (5-2) plays at Georgetown, Ohio Thursday night.
