Gray and Morris win 1st round matches at state, but lose in 2nd round

Mason County sophomore Tessa Gray and Mason County junior Luke Morris won their first round matches in the Republic Bank/KHSAA State Tennis Tournaments in Lexington this morning, but lost in the second round this afternoon.

Gray defeated Russell County junior Kaylie Polston 6-1, 6-2, but in a rematch of the 10th finals, Gray lost to Highlands senior Lexi Herman 3-6, 1-6.

Morris beat Marion County junior Dylan Bradshaw 6-2, 6-3, but lost to Oneida Baptist junior Choopat Suvimolstean, the No. 3 seed, 0-6, 0-6.

Pairings set for Republic Bank/KHSAA Tennis Tournaments

The pairings are set for the Republic Bank/KHSAA Tennis Tournaments which take place this week in Lexington.

Mason County sophomore Tessa Gray will play Russell County junior Kaylie Polston Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at Shillito Park Tennis Complex.

Mason County junior Luke Morris is pitted against Marion County junior Dylan Bradshaw Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at the University of Kentucky Boone/Downing Tennis Complex.

Admission is free Thursday. Admission for Friday's matches is $10.

Gray loses in semifinals, Morris in the finals of region tennis tournaments

Mason County sophomore Tessa Gray, the No. 2 seed, lost to the No. 1 seed, Highlands senior Lexi Herman, 3-6, 4-6 tonight in the championship match of the 10th Region tennis tournament at Harrison County.

In the afternoon semifinal match, Gray defeated Sarah Hoffman of Highlands 6-0, 6-1.

Mason County junior Luke Morris, the No. 3 seed, lost to No, 1 seed, Ben Emery of Highlands, 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals.

Both Gray and Morris still advance to the Republic Bank/KHSAA State Tennis Championships in Lexington next week.

Highlands beats Mason Co, 3-0 in girls 10th Region tennis finals

The Highlands Lady Bluebirds defeated the Mason County Lady Royals 3-0 in the finals of the 10th Region tennis tournament Wednesday at Harrison County. 

Two Mason County players have semifinal matches today in the singles tournaments. Sophomore Tessa Gray plays Sarah Hoffman of Highlands, and junior Luke Morris plays Ben Emory of Highlands.
