Bradley Boone, Tyler Baxter and Dalton Ritchie on SportsTalk

I had three guests on SportsTalk this morning. Bradley Boone and Tyler Baxter filled us in on the Battle4Boone basketball tournament which begins today and I interviewed Dalton Ritchie, a Mason County alum who is a member of the shotgun sports team at Midland University.

News and notes

Here are a few news and notes:


  • Mason County High School alum Dalton Ritchie helped Midland University win the Division 1 American Trap Shooting Championship at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas last week. Ritchie, a junior, also took third place in the individual trap shooting. Midland University is located in Fremont, Nebraska.

  • Another Mason County High School graduate,Tessa Gray, is the University of the Cumberlands Female Athlete of the Week. Gray is a freshman tennis player. Here is a link to the press release.

  • The Mason County football team wrapped up two weeks of spring practice last Friday. The first day of summer practice is scheduled Wednesday, July 10th. The Royals open the season August 23rd at home vs. Russell in the Meadowview Regional Medical Center Kickoff Classic.

Mason Co. and Augusta advance in district tournament



Dalton Ritchie hit a two-run home run and Nick Nelson belted a three-run home run in the Mason County Royals' 9-2 win over the Bracken County Polar Bears Monday in the semifinals in the 39th District tournament. Darren Williams pitched a complete game.

The Augusta Panthers beat the St. Patrick Saints 9-6 in the second semifinal. It's Augusta's first win of the season.

Mason County and Augusta meet in the championship game tonight at 6 o'clock at Mason County.
