St. Patrick sophomore Gabe Sammons finished in 78th place at the KHSAA Class A Boys' State Cross Country Championship at Kentucky Horse Park on Saturday morning with a time of 19:01.40.
Augusta took 26th place in the team standings. The Panthers were led by Grayson Miller who finished in 18th place with a time of 17:26.10.
St. Patrick sophomore Gabe Sammons qualified for the KHSAA State Cross Country Championships with a 12th place finish at the Class A Region 5 meet at Bourbon County Park on Saturday.
Two other Saints ran in the region meet. Aiden Samudio was 51st and Amari Myrick finished in 79th place.
Augusta took fifth place and qualified for state for the fourth straight year.
Grayson Miller was Augusta's top runner with a fourth place finish.
The Class A boys' state championship is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. this Saturday at Kentucky Horse Park.
The Mason County Royals cross country team won the Area 7 Championship in dominating fashion at Rowan County Friday.
The Royals finished with 22 points. The Russell Red Devils were the runners-up with 77 points.
Deshawn Overly led Mason County with a second place finish in a time of 16:57.83. Ed Brannon (17:17.98), Peyton Ullery (17:39.33) and Bryant Curtis (17:50.28) finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
Augusta junior Grayson Miller took third place in a time of 17:13.19.
Mason County Lady Royal Kolby Galloway finished in sixth place in a time of 22.02.47.
Augusta junior Grayson Miller won the boys' varsity race and Mason County freshman Kolby Galloway won the girls' varsity race at the Buffalo Trace Conference Championships at Mason County Tuesday evening.
The Mason County Royals and the Fleming County Lady Panthers won the team championships.

Sammons had a time of 19.26.97
Another St. Patrick freshman, Amari Myrick, was 88th (24:59.46).
St. Patrick senior Hadley Mellenkamp was 48th in the girls' meet with a time of 27:48.39.

The Mason County Lady Royals and the Augusta Panthers cross country teams are Buffalo Trace Conference champions. The Lady Royals and Panthers won the conference meets on Wednesday at Mason County.
Mason County senior Paige Decker (19:35) and Augusta sophomore Grayson Miller (16:57) are the individual conference champions.
In the girls' race, Mason County had 15 points, Bracken County finished with 48 points.
In the boys' race, Augusta won with 25 points. Mason County was the runner-up with 30 points.
