Lady Royals beat Fleming County for a trip to the 2A state tournament

Amirah Reed and Lexi Young scored 15 points apiece to lead the Mason County Lady Royals to a 53-50 win over the Fleming County Lady Panthers on Saturday night in the championship game of the Kentucky 2A Championships Section 6 Tournament.

Lady Royals advance to the Kentucky 2A Championships state tournament for the first time.

Fleming County jumped out to a 7-0 lead and was up 16-9 before Olivia Hughes and Reed hit back-to-back 3-pointers to close the gap to one at the end of the first quarter.

The Lady Panthers led 24-22 at the half.

The Lady Royals tied the game at 30-all with 4:15 remaining in the third quarter and grabbed their first lead at 33-32.

There were six lead changes in the fourth quarter. Arianna Adams gave Fleming County its last lead at 47-46 when she scored her 1,000th career point on a bank shot she tossed backward over her head while falling to the floor with 1:01 to go.

Young scored on a layup with 48 seconds on the clock. That basket started a 7-0 Mason County run that made the score 53-47 with only 12 seconds left.

Laci Burns made a 3-pointer for Fleming County with seven seconds remaining.

Mason County missed two free throws with five seconds left. The Lady Panthers threw the ball away with two seconds to go. The Lady Royals inbounded the ball and time expired.

Adams scored a game-high 23 points for Fleming County. Burns added 11 points.

Mason County (10-5) will play host to Morgan County on Monday night before playing Taylor County in the Kentucky 2A Championships state tournament against Section 4 champion on Friday in Owensboro.

Fleming County (9-3) will host Scott on Tuesday night.

Lady Bears beat Lady Royals

The Bracken County Lady Bears made 18-of-20 free throws in the fourth quarter and defeated the Mason County Lady Royals 55-44 in the upper bracket semifinal game of the 39th District Tournament at The Fieldhouse on Monday night.

Both teams struggled to make shots from the field (24.5% for Bracken County, 25.5% for Mason County).

The Lady Bears outscored the Lady Royals 23-14 in the fourth quarter.

Ella Johnson made four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Bracken County. Nicole Archibald hit 11-of-12 free throws including 10-of-10 in the fourth quarter and finished with 16 points.

Mason County was led in scoring by Laci Burns with 16 points.
Avery Sims had 10 points and 14 rebounds.

The Lady Bears (18-13) advance to Thursday night's championship game to play the winner of Tuesday night's semifinal game between St. Patrick and Augusta.

The Lady Royals end the season with an 11-18 record.

Lady Royals upset Paris 57-39

The Mason County Lady Royals found their shooting touch in the second half and upset the Paris Lady Hounds 57-39 on Senior Night at The Fieldhouse on Saturday night.

The Lady Royals have struggled to make shots most of the season, but in the second half they shot 44.4 percent from the field and hit six 3-pointers. 

Mason County (11-15) outscored Paris 23-7 in the third quarter after trailing 24-23 at halftime.

There were seven ties and eight lead changes in the game.

Paris (18-8), ranked as high as No. 2 in the region, was without its second leading scorer, Jamie Cowan, due to an injury.

The Lady Royals had balanced scoring. Macey Littleton scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds, Avery Sims had 11 points and 10 rebounds, Lexi Young had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Laci Burns scored 10 points.

Sarah Payne pulled down eight rebounds.

Mason County will host Frederick Douglass on Monday night.

Lady Royals lose to Montgomery County 60-53

The Mason County Lady Royals lost to the Montgomery County Lady Indians 60-53 at The Fieldhouse on Friday night.

After only scoring 27 points through the first three quarters, the Lady Royals scored 26 points in the fourth quarter.

Sarah Payne scored a career-high 20 points for Mason County (7-11). Laci Burns added 10 points. 

Montgomery County (16-6), the No. 2 team in the 10th Region, was led in scoring by Hayden Barrier with 18 points.

The Lady Royals are right back in action on Saturday vs. the Augusta Lady Panthers in Augusta. It's varsity only with tip-off at 6:30 p.m.

Lady Royals fall to Dixie Heights

The Mason County Lady Royals were held to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters and lost to the Dixie Heights Colonels 49-38 on Saturday at The Fieldhouse.

After trailing by just three points at halftime, the Lady Royals were outscored 17-8 by the Colonels in the third quarter.

Mason County was led in scoring by Macey Littleton with 17 points. Laci Burns added 10 points.

The Lady Royals (7-9) will travel to Owingsville on Wednesday night to play the Bath County Lady Cats.

Lady Royals lose Rowan County 73-55 in 2A Sectional

The Mason County Lady Royals cut a 19-point deficit to eight late in the third quarter, but lost to the Rowan County Lady Vikings 73-55 in the quarterfinal round of the Kentucky 2A Championships Section 6 Tournament at The Fieldhouse on Monday night. 

Rowan County senior Haven Ford, the state's second leading scorer and a Murray State commit, scored a game-high 31 points.

Mason County (6-7) had three double figure scorers: Laci Burns with 18 points, Sarah Payne with 13 and Macey Littleton with 10.

The Lady Royals will host St. Patrick on Wednesday night at 6:30 at The Fieldhouse.

Rowan County (8-6) moves on to the semifinals to play Fleming County.

Lady Royals finish third in Vanous Lloyd Christmas Tournament

Laci Burns scored 13 points and the Mason County Lady Royals routed the Caverna Lady Colonels 62-19 on Thursday in the third place of the Vanous Lloyd Christmas Tournament at Warren Central.

Macey Littleton and Sarah Payne added 10 points each for the Lady Royals.

Mason County outscored Caverna 53-10 over the last three quarters.

The 62 points are a season-high for the Lady Royals.

Mason County (6-6) will host Rowan County in the Kentucky 2A Championships Section 6 Tournament on Monday at 6 p.m.

Lady Royals lose to Danville in semis of Vanous Lloyd Christmas Tournament

The Mason County Lady Royals lost to the Danville Lady Admirals 63-28 on Wednesday in the semifinals of the Vanous Lloyd Christmas Tournament at Warren Central High School.

The 28 points are a season low for Mason County (5-6).

The Lady Royals were led in scoring by Laci Burns with 10 points.

Mason County will play Caverna in the third place game on Thursday at 4 p.m. (CST).

Lady Royals beat Christian County and advance to semis of Vanous Lloyd Christmas Tournament

The Mason County Lady Royals jumped out to a 14-0 lead and were able to hold on for a 53-47 win over the Christian County Lady Colonels on Tuesday night in the opening round of the Vanous Lloyd Christmas Tournament at Warren Central High School in Bowling Green.

Christian County (4-6) twice pulled to within a point. The second time was at 29-28 early in the third quarter, but the Lady Royals pulled away again with a 16-5 run including a 9-0 spurt. 

Macey Littleton hit four 3-pointers and led Mason County (5-5) in scoring with 17 points. Lexi Young and Laci Burns added 11 points apiece.

The Lady Royals advance to the semifinals and will play on Wednesday at 6 p.m. (CST).

Lady Royals defeat Campbell County 48-42

The Mason County Lady Royals snapped a two-game losing skid with a 48-42 win over the Campbell County Lady Camels Wednesday night at The Fieldhouse.

The Lady Royals made 19 of 22 free throws for 86.4 percent.

Laci Burns led Mason County (4-3) in scoring with 14 points. Macey Littleton followed with 14 and Avery Sims added 11. 

The Lady Royals will host Conner on Saturday at the Lady Royals Gym.

Lady Royals start slow, suffer road loss to Pendleton County

The Mason County Lady Royals were unable to overcome a slow start and lost to the Pendleton County Lady Wildcats 49-35 tonight in Falmouth.

Mason County only scored six points in the first quarter,trailed 34-12 in the second quarter and 34-13 at the half. The Lady Royals closed to within 11 points at 41-30 in the fourth quarter but could get no closer.

Pendleton County (6-0) outrebounded Mason County 57-30.

The Lady Royals shot 25.5 percent from the field. Ten of their shots were blocked. 

Pendleton County senior Saniah Thomas had a double-double with 24 points and 21 rebounds. She scored her 1,000th career point in the first quarter.

Mason County (3-3) was led in scoring by Avery Sims and Laci Burns with nine points each. 

The Lady Royals will be back in action Wednesday night at The Fieldhouse vs. the Campbell County Lady Camels.

Lady Royals lose to Bishop Brossart 55-47

The Mason County Lady Royals suffered their first loss of the season, falling to the Bishop Brossart Lady Stangs 55-47 tonight at The Fieldhouse.

There were four ties and five lead changes in the game, but Bishop Brossart outscored Mason County 22-12 in the third quarter and led by as many as 17 points.

Laci Burns scored a career-high 21 points for Mason County (1-1). 

The Lady Royals are back in action on Saturday vs. St. Henry at the Lady Royals Gym. It's a tripleheader beginning with the freshman game at noon.

Adkins scores 20 points as Lady Royals win their 8th straight district championship

Hannah Adkins hit four three-pointers and scored 20 points to lead the Mason County Lady Royals to a 49-35 victory over the Bracken County Lady Bears in the championship game of the 39th District Tournament tonight at The Fieldhouse.

Mason County led 27-12 at the half. Bracken County pulled to within eight points in the third quarter at 39-31, but the Lady Royals answered with a 6-0 run.

Laci Burns chipped in 11 points for Mason County (17-9).

Bracken County (14-10) was led in scoring by Nicole Archibald with 20 points.

The 10th Region Tournament gets underway Monday night at Nicholas County.

Lady Royals second in tri-match at Fleming County

The Mason County Lady Royals finished second in a tri-match at Fleming County Golf Association today.

The Fleming County Lady Panthers won with a team score of 204. The Lady Royals were three shots back and the Lewis County Lady Lions finished in third place with a score of 222.

Macey Littleton led the Lady Royals and tied for medalist with a 45. Morgan Parker shot a 51. Maura Hartman carded a 54. Sydney Ullery had a 57 and Laci Burns shot a 57. 

Mason County will play host to Bourbon County and Lewis County in a tri-match at Laurel Oaks Golf Course on Wednesday.

Lady Royals' split squads win at Humphrey's Hilltop Golf Course and Wells Creek Golf Course

The Mason County girls' golf team picked up victories with split squads today.

Macey Littleton shot a 38 to lead the Lady Royals to a 184-186 win over the Manchester Lady Greyhounds at Humphrey's Hilltop Golf Course. Laci Burns shot a 43, Maura Hartman a 49 and Morgan Parker a 54.

The Lady Royals defeated St. Patrick 152-169 at Wells Creek Golf Course.

Lady Royals split squads both win matches

The Mason County girls' golf team used split squads to win two matches on Wednesday.

The Lady Royals won a tri-match at Laurel Oaks Golf Course with a team score of 146. Pendleton County finished second at 152 and Lewis County took third place at 159.

Morgan Parker led the Lady Royals with a 46. She was followed by Kyleigh Kirk with a 48 and Maura Hartman and Sydney Ullery each with a 52.

Macey Littleton shot a 44 to lead Mason County to a win in a tri-match at Carnico Golf Club. The Lady Royals had a team score of 206. Fleming County and Nicholas County tied for second, six shots back.

Laci Burns shot a 50, Bentley Shepherd a 52 and Presley Flora a 60 to round out the Lady Royals' scoring.

"Great job by all players tonight at both courses," Mason County coach Jason Butler wrote in a text message. "I am very glad to get all kids playing and the experience."

Lady Royals defeat Lewis County at Laurel Oaks

The Mason County Lady Royals defeated the Lewis County Lady Lions 195-205 today at Laurel Oaks Golf Course.

Maura Hartman led Mason County with a 45. Laci Burns shot a 49, Bentley Shepherd a 50 and Morgan Parker a 51.

The Lady Royals will play in the Montgomery County Invitational on Saturday.

High school sports teams are not allowed to hold awards banquets during the pandemic, so, Mason County Lady Royals golf coach Jason Butler delivered awards to his golf team members on Wednesday. Here is a list of the award winners:
