2025 Mason County graduate Kenzie Gulley has been named Class 2A All-State Honorable Mention by the Kentucky High School Softball Coaches Association.
Despite missing almost a third of the season with an injury, Gulley, a Thomas More University signee, batted .540 with four doubles, five triples, two home runs and nine RBI. She stole 19 bases in 20 attempts and scored 17 runs.
The Mason County Lady Royals were held to three hits and lost to the Harrison County Fillies 6-1 in the semifinals of the 10th Region softball tournament on Thursday at Pendleton County.
The Lady Royals fell behind 6-0 before scoring their lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Kylah Turner drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second base on a groundout by Olivia Hughes, reached third base on a wild pitch and scored on Reese Hardeman's sacrific fly.
Mason County threatened to score in the bottom of the seventh inning. Karleigh Thomas and Kenzie Gulley both singled followed by another walk to Turner, but the Lady Royals left the bases loaded.
Hughes and Delana Rigg were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Mason County ends the season with an 11-19 record.
The Mason County Lady Royals won the 39th District Tournament for the second straight year by defeating the Augusta Panthers 16-0 in the semifinals and the Bracken County Lady Bears 7-6 in the championship game on Monday at the Tom Browning Boys and Girls Club.
The tournament, originally scheduled to be played on Tuesday, was moved up because of the forecast for rain.
Kenzie Gulley led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run in the semifinal game. The Lady Royals scored 11 runs in the first inning and five in the second inning.
Mason County led 6-0 in the middle of the fifth inning in the championship game. Bracken County scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth. The Lady Royals added an insurance run the sixth inning. The Lady Bears made it interesting with four runs in the bottom of the sixth and threatened in the bottom of the seventh before stranding two base runners.
Mason County and Augusta both move on to the 10th Region Tournament.
The Mason County Lady Royals allowed 10 runs in the first inning and lost to the East Jessamine Jaguars 12-1 in five innings on Friday in the Jerry Puckett Showcase in Winchester.
The Lady Royals trailed 12-0 before scoring their lone run in the top of the fifth inning. Reagan Workman reached base on an error, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on Kenzie Gulley's double to right field.
Mason County (8-15) will play two more games in the showcase today at George Rogers Clark: 12:45 vs. Taylor County and 2:30 vs. Pendleton County.
Kenzie Gulley hit a three-run home run, a double and a triple and scored three runs as the Mason County Lady Royals defeated the Holy Cross Lady Indians 7-1 on Tuesday at the Tom Browning Boys and Girls Club.
Olivia Hughes had two hits and two RBI.
Mason County (8-14) will play East Jessamine at George Rogers Clark on Friday at 8:15 p.m.
The Mason County Lady Royals were held to three hits in an 8-0 loss to the Western Brown Broncos on Senior Night on Friday.
Kenzie Gulley went 2 for 2 including a double. She drew a walk and had one stolen base.
For the season, Gulley is batting .600 and has stolen 16 bases in 16 attempts.
Mason County (7-14) will host Greenup County on Monday at 6 p.m.
Kenzie Gulley had three hits including a triple, stole four bases, scored a run and drove in a run as the Mason County Lady Royals beat the Dixie Heights Colonels 11-2 on Wednesday in Edgewood.
Sydney Ullery and Reese Hardeman each drove in two runs. Delana Rigg and Olivia Hughes each had three hits, scored a run, drove in a run and combined on a five-hitter.
Mason County (7-13) will host the Nicholas County Lady Jackets today at 5:30 p.m.

The Mason County Lady Royals lost their first two games in the Cal Ripken Experience in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
They suffered a 13-5 loss to York High of Elmhurst, Illinois on Tuesday morning and lost to Chicago Taft 10-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Royals committed five errors in the morning game. Kenzie Gulley had two hits and scored a run. Reese Hardeman and Delana Rigg each had an RBI.
Karleigh Thomas drove in Cadence Garrison with a double in the sixth inning in the afternoon game.
The Lady Royals (4-4) will play McDowell Senior High of Erie, Pennsylvania on Thursday at 1 p.m.
For the second straight week, the Mason County girls' and boys' indoor track and field teams swept a Mason County meet on Saturday.
The Lady Royals finished with 166 points. The Harrison County Fillies were a distant second with 40 points.
The Royals had a team score of 108.5. Madison Southern finished second with 61 points.

Mason County senior Kenzie Gulley has signed to continue her academic and softball careers at Northern Kentucky University.
Gulley's signing was one of five announced by NKU on Wednesday.
Gulley was named First Team All-State by the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association in June.
She batted .571 (64 for 112) with 17 doubles, 13 triples and 35 RBI, stole 37 bases in 38 attempts and scored 54 runs during her junior season.
Gulley is also a member of the track and golf teams at Mason County.
Mason County golfers Sydney Ullery and Bentley Shepherd have qualified for the state tournament as individuals.
Mason County had a team score of 382 and took third place at the Region 12 Tournament on Wednesday at Irish Hills Golf Course in Mt. Sterling.
Region Champion Montgomery County (321) and the runner-up Boyd County (374) are the team qualifiers for state.
Ullery shot an 83 and Shepherd carded a 94. They move on to the Leachman Buick-Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf First Round at Eagles Nest Country Club in Somerset on Tuesday.
Taylor Schroer shot a career-best 95 and first-year golfer Kenzie Gulley added a 110 to round out the Lady Royals' scoring.

The Mason County Lady Royals have qualified for the Kentucky 2A Championships state golf tournament for the third time in four seasons.
The Lady Royals won both the 2A Section 6 qualifier and the Mason County Invitational Tournament Cup at Laurel Oaks Golf Course on Wednesday with a team score of 377.
Sydney Ullery led Mason County with an 83. Bentley Shepherd followed with an 84. Taylor Schroer carded a 97 and Kenzie Gulley added a 113.

Sydney Ullery won medalist honors with a 1-under par 35 on the back nine at Laurel Oaks Golf Course and led the Mason County Lady Royals to a victory in a tri-match vs. Fleming County and Lewis County on Monday.
Bentley Shepherd shot a 40 and Kenzie Gulley added a 51 to give Mason County a score of 126.
Fleming County finished second at 136 nd Lewis County had a team score of 159.
The Lady Royals will host the Mason County Invitational Tournament at Laurel Oaks on Wednesday. The tournament will also be the Section 6 qualifier for the Kentucky 2A Championships.
The Mason County Lady Royals took third place at the Harrison County Invitational at Cynthiana Country Club on Wednesday with a team score of 414.
The Montgomery County Lady Indians won the tournament with a score of 327.
Mason County was led by Bentley Shepherd with a 91. Sydney Ullery carded a 93. Taylor Schroer shot a 109 and Kenzie Gulley folllowed with a 121.
The Lady Royals will travel to Mt. Sterling on Saturday for the Montgomery County Invitational at Irish Hills.
Bentley Shepherd won medalist honors with a 41 to lead the Mason County Lady Royals to a second place finish in a tri-match at Fleming County Golf Association on Monday.
Fleming County won with a three-player score of 142. Mason County carded a 149 and Lewis County had a score of 164.
Sydney Ullery shot a 44 for the Lady Royals. Kenzie Gulley added a 64.
Mason County will host Lewis County and Rowan County in a tri-match at Laurel Oaks Golf Course on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
Kenzie Gulley, a rising senior at Mason County High School, was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series in Kokomo, Indiana on Sunday.
Gulley and her Louisville Lady Sluggers Wathen teammates are the 16U Tier 1 Alliance National Co-Champions.
The team has compiled a 43-10 record this season.
Earlier this month, the Lady Sluggers were Atlanta Legacy Co-Champions and finished third in the National Power Pool at the Power 5-Invite Only in Colorado.
