Grant Burkhart signs with UPIKE

Mason County senior Grant Burkhart signed on Thursday to continue his education and golf careers at the University of Pikeville.

During his senior season, Burkhart qualified for the first round of the state tournament and was named to the All-Region Team.

Four Mason County golfers named to the All-Region Team

Mason County golfers Grant Burkhart, Cole Owens, Jaxen Crabtree and Noah Gardner were named to the All-Region Team.

"One of my favorite teams I have coached so far!" Mason County coach Bryson Bennett wrote on X. 

Burkhart is a senior. Owens, Crabtree and Gardner are juniors.

Burkhart and Owens fall short of qualifying for the final round of state golf tournament

Mason County golfers Grant Burkhart and Cole Owens came up short in their efforts to advance to the final round of the state tournament.

Burkhart shot an 84 and Owens carded a 93 at the 2024 Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac KHSAA State Golf First Round on Wednesday at Eagle's Nest Country Club in Somerset.

Five-over par 76 was the score individual golfers needed to move on to the final round in Bowling Green next week.

Royals third at region golf tourney, Burkhart and Owens qualify for state

The Mason County Royals' streaks of four straight region golf championships and five consecutive trips to state were snapped by a third place finish at the Region 12 Tournament on Monday at Eagle Trace Golf Course in Morehead.

Two RoyalsGrant Burkhart and Cole Owensare individual qualifiers for the first round of the state tournament.

Mason County had a team score of 317. In the team competition, only the winner and runner-up advance to state.

Burkhart tied for third place with a 75. Owens tied for 11th place with a 79. Noah Gardner shot an 81 and Jaxen Crabtree followed with an 82 to round out the Royals' team score. Slate Brammer shot a 92.

The 2024 Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac KHSAA State Golf First Round is scheduled September 30 and October 1 at Eagle's Nest Country Club in Somerset.

Mason County finished fourth at Kentucky Shootout

The Mason County Royals finished fourth at the Kentucky Shootout on Saturday at Henry County Country Club with a team score of 317.

Mason County and Bullitt East co-hosted the first year event.

Noah Gardner led the Royals with a 76. Jaxen Crabtree shot a 77. Grant Burkhart carded a 79 and Cole Owens followed with an 85 for the team total. Slate Brammer shot an 88.

It was Mason County's final tournament of the regular season. The region tournament is scheduled on September 23 at Eagle Trace Golf Course in Morehead.

Royals golf T13 at Danny Spillman BGIT

The Mason County Royals golf team tied for 13th place at the Danny Spillman Bowling Green Invitational Tournament on Saturday at Bowling Green Country Club.

The Royals had a team score of 47-over par 335.

St. Xavier won at 10 over 298.

Jaxen Crabtree led Mason County with an 80. Noah Gardner followed with an 81. Cole Owens carded an 85. Grant Burkhart shot an 89 and Slate Brammer finished with a 95.

Royals are runners-up at Pulaski County Invitational

Noah Gardner shot a 2-under par 69 to lead the Mason County Royals to a runner-up finish at the Pulaski County Invitational at Eagles Nest Country Club in Somerset on Saturday.

The Royals had a season-low score of 301.

Gardner finished second in the individual standings in a scorecard playoff. Grant Burkhart followed with a 73. Cole Owens shot a 79. Jaxen Crabtree carded an 80 and Slate Brammer shot an 84.

Mason County will play in the Eagle Trace Invitational in Morehead this coming Saturday.

Royals shot 324 at Judy Construction Invitational

The Mason County Royals shot a team score of 324 at the Judy Construction Invitational hosted by Harrison County at Houston Oaks Golf Course in Paris.

The Royals were led by Jaxen Crabtree with a 79. Grant Burkhart shot an 80. Noah Gardner finished with an 82. Cole Owens carded an 84 and Slate Brammer followed with an 87. The four best scores are used for the team total.

Mason County will play in the Pulaski Invitational in Somerset on Saturday.

Royals shot 326 at Whitley County Invitational

The Mason County Royals had a team score of 326 at the Whitley County Invitational at Wasioto Winds Golf Course on Saturday.

Cole Owens led the Royals with a 75. Jaxen Crabtree shot a 77. Grant Burkhart carded a 76. Slate Brammer and Wyatt Perkins both shot 95s.

Noah Gardner shot an 8-over par 79 and tied for 44th place in the 60th Kentucky Invitational at Harmony Landing Country Club in Louisville.

Former Royal Jake Feldhaus, a junior at Madison Central, tied for 18th place at 3-over 74.

Mason County will play in the Harrison County Invitational at Houston Oaks Golf Course in Paris on Saturday.

Royals shoot 321 at Bronco Invitational

The Mason County Royals had a team score of 321 at the Bronco Invitational at Kearney Hills Golf Links in Lexington on Monday.

Cole Owens led the Royals with a 74. Jaxen Crabtree and Grant Burkhart shot 82s. Noah Gardner followed with an 83 and Slate Brammer carded a 92.

Mason County will play in the Whitley County Invitational at Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville on Saturday.

Crabtree shoots a 1-under par 71 to qualify for Kentucky 2A Championships tournament

Mason County junior Jaxen Crabtree shot a 1-under 71 on Wednesday in the Mason County Open at Laurel Oaks Golf Course and qualified for the Kentucky 2A Championships tournament.

The Mason County Open was the Kentucky 2A Championships Section 6 tournament.

Fleming County is the Section 6 champion. The Panthers had a team score of 294.

St. Henry won the Mason County Open champion with a score of 292.

Mason County had a team score of 305.

In addition to Crabtree's 71, Slate Brammer shot a 77, followed by Grant Burkhart with a 78, Cole Owens a 79 and Noah Gardner an 81.

The four best scores are used for the team score.

The Royals will play in the Bronco Invitational at Kearney Hills Golf Links in Lexington on Monday.

Royals finish 7th at Greenwood Gator Invitational

The Mason County Royals had a team score of 321 and finished in 7th place at the Greenwood Gator Invitational at Bowling Green Country Club on Monday.

McCracken County won the tournament with a score of 310.

Cole Owens led Mason County with a 6-over par 78 and tied for 17th place.

Jaxen Crabtree, Noah Gardner and Grant Burkhart shot 81s to round out the team score.

Slate Brammer carded a 91.

The Royals will host the Mason County Open on Wednesday at Laurel Oaks Golf Course.

Royals finished 18th in Kentucky Cup

The Mason County Royals finished in 18th at The Kentucky Cup on Wednesday with a score of 320 at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.

Cole Owens led Mason County with a 5-over par 76 and tied for 38th place in the individual standings. Jaxen Crabtree shot a 77 followed by Slate Brammer with an 83, Noah Gardner with an 84, Grant Burkhart an 85. 

The Royals will play in the Gator Invitational at Bowling Green Country Club on Monday.

Royals shot a 323 at Charger Open

The Mason County Royals shot a 323 on Monday at the Charger Open, hosted by Bullitt East, at Heritage Hill Golf Course in Shepherdsville.

Trinity won the tournament with a 2-over par 290.

Mason County was led by Jaxen Crabtree with a 79. Cole Owens and Grant Burkhart followed with 81s, Noah Gardner carded an 82 and Slate Brammer shot an 89. The four lowest scores are used for the team total.

The Royals will play in the Kentucky Cup on Wednesday at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.

Owens medalist, Royals champions of Mason County/St. Patrick Invitational

Mason County junior Cole Owens shot a 2-under par 70 to win medalist honors and led the Royals to a victory in the Mason County/St. Patrick Invitational on Saturday at Oak Ridge Golf Club, formerly Maysville Country Club.

Grant Burkhart carded a 76, Jaxen Crabtree a 79, Noah Gardner an 82 and Slate Brammer an 89. The four lowest scores are used to determine the team score.

The victory is Mason County's second of the young season and the 307 is the Royals' best score of the season.

Covington Catholic was the runner-up. The Colonels finished tied with Highlands at 318. The tie was broken by using the No. 5 golfers' scores.

Royals win Trojan Cup Invitational

The Mason County Royals opened the 2024 golf season by winning the Trojan Cup Invitational on Monday at Barren River Lake State Park.

The Royals had a team score of 313.

Grant Burkhart led the way with a 76. He was followed by Jaxen Crabtree with a 77, Cole Owens with a 79, Slate Brammer with an 81 and Noah Gardner with an 84. The best four scores are used for the team total.

Mason County will be back in action on Tuesday at the Cardinal Classic at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown.

Qualifying determines top five for Mason County boys' golf team

Three days of qualifying determined the top five for the Mason County boys' golf team.

The top five are:

1. Cole Owens

2. Noah Gardner

3. Jaxen Crabtree

4. Slate Brammer

5. Grant Burkhart

Burkhart is a senior. The other four are juniors.

The Royals will open the season on Monday in the Trojan Cup at Barren River State Park in Lucas.
