Lady Royals' rally comes up short in a 55-49 loss to Scott

The Mason County Lady Royals mounted a furious rally, but came up short in a 55-49 loss to the Scott Lady Eagles tonight in the quarterfinal round of the 10th Region Tournament at GRC Arena in Winchester.

After trailing by as many as 16 points in the third quarter, the Lady Royals pulled to within two points in the final minute of the game, but the Lady Eagles scored the last four points.

Mason County scored 24 points in the fourth quarter after scoring just 25 points in the first three quarters.

The Lady Royals, who finished the season with a 14-9 record, were led in scoring by Rachel Payne with 13 points. Milyn Henry tossed in 11 points and Brianna Littleton added 10 points.

Sophia Allen was Scott's top scorer with 19 points. Madelyn Wilson chipped in with 15 points.

Scott advances to the semifinals to play Montgomery County. The Lady Indians beat the Harrison County Fillies 51-46 in overtime in tonight's first game.

Lady Royals rout Bourbon Co. 83-18

The Mason County Lady Royals celebrated Senior Night with an 83-18 rout of the Bourbon County Lady Colonels Wednesday night at the Fieldhouse.

Mason County led 22-7 at the end of the first quarter and 46-11 at the halftime.

The Lady Royals outscored the Lady Colonels 19-1 in the fourth quarter.

Mason County shot 53.2 percent from field and 47.6 percent (10-of-21) from three-point range.

Bourbon County had just five field goals in the game.

The Lady Royals scored 43 points off the Lady Colonels' 24 turnovers.

Brianna Littleton was 5-of-5 on three-point shots and scored a game-high 17 points.

A.J. Reed followed with 15 points and Whitney O'Mara added 11 points.

Mason County closes out the regular season Friday night at Franklin County.

Mason Co, sweeps girls and boys DH vs. Bracken County

Mason County and Bracken County sweep a girls and boys doubleheader vs. Bracken County tonight at the Fieldhouse.

The Lady Royals jumped out to a 17-0 lead and cruised to a 69-24 victory over the Lady Bears.

The Royals outscored the Polar Bears 23-12 in the second quarter on their way to a 76-61 win.

The Lady Royals scored 30 points off the Lady Bears' 24 turnovers.

Briana McNutt led Mason County in scoring with 15 points. 

Brianna Littleton added 10 points.

Madison Kalb was the Lady Bears' top scorer with 13 points.

Austin Crawford scored a game-high 33 points for the Polar Bears.

Isaiah Garrison scored a career high 31 points for Mason County.

Sam Kumler tossed in 13 points and Jayden Steward added 11 points.

Lady Royals Pull Away in 4th Quarter for a 51-42 Win over Rowan Co.

Despite going scoreless in the second quarter, the Mason County Lady Royals defeated the Rowan County Lady Vikings 51-42 in Morehead Wednesday night.

Mason County jumped out to a 20-5 lead, but Rowan County answered with an 18-0 run. The Lady Royals outscored the Lady Vikings 17-9 in the fourth quarter.

Brianna Littleton and Maddie Boone led Mason County in scoring with 14 points apiece. Jordan Frodge added 10 points.

Lady Royals Fall to Allen County Scotsville 49-42

Allen County Scottsville outscored Mason County 13-3 in the third quarter and beat the Lady Royals 49-42 Saturday night in the semifinals of the Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 Basketball Tournament. Kara Moran made a lay up to give Mason County a 27-17 lead with 2:09 left in second quarter. But Allen County Scottsville scored the final four points of the first half and the first nine points of the third quarter. Mason County's only points in the third quarter came on a free throw by Maddie Boone at the 4:29 mark and lay up by Erin Kumler that tied the game at 30-30 with 2:32 left in the quarter. Allen County Scottsville scored six straight points to lead 36-30 with 7:10 to play. Jordan Frodge and Brianna Littleton hit back-to-back three-pointers to tie the game at 36-36. Morgan Rich hit two free throws for Allen County Scottsville. Maddie Boone hit a jumper to tie the score at 38-38 with 2:18 to go. The Lady Patriots outscored the Lady Royals 11-4 the rest of the way. Lady Royals rout Muhlenberg County 63-43

The Mason County Lady Royals used a 13-0 run in the first quarter to pull away from the Muhlenberg County Lady Mustangs and won 63-43 Thursday in the opening round of the Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 Basketball Tournament. Four Lady Royals scored in double figures- Whitney O'Mara and Jordan Frodge with 14 points apiece and Maddie Boone and Brianna Littleton each with 10. Littleton had six assists.

The Mason County High School golf banquet was held Tuesday night at the Maysville Country Club. The Mason County boys junior varsity and freshman teams were winners in tri-matches Tuesday night at Laurel Oaks Golf Club. Tyler Lippert and J.C. Chapman led the way with 44s.
The Lady Royals junior varsity beat North Adams by 12 shots. The Lady Royals were led by Brianna Littleton with a 53 and Jordan Frodge shot a 63.
