Former Mason County and University of Kentucky standout Andy Fryman had a season-best mark of 72.73 meters/238-feet, seven inches and finished in fifth place in the hammer throw U.S. Olympic Trials today in Eugene, Oregon.
Fryman needed to be in the top three and have the Olympic Standard mark of 77 meters to qualify for Team USA in the Rio Olympics. He was less than five feet behind the third place finisher.
None of the top three have the Olympic Standard and will need an invite from the International Association of Athletics Federations.

Olympic hopeful Andy Fryman has a gofundme account to raise money for his quest to make Team USA in the hammer throw for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Fryman, a former standout at Mason County High School and the University of Kentucky, is Director of High Performance at Myrtle Beach Athletic Club. He holds the state Class 2A record in the shot put (65-07.50 set in 2003) and the overall state record in the discus throw (194-11 set in 2003). Andy Fryman was seventh in the hammer throw at the USA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon Thursday. Fryman had a throw of 71.47 meters or 234 feet, six inches.

Adkins 27th in Nike Indoor Nationals
Mason County senior Seth Adkins was 27th out of 73 runners in the 200 meters Saturday at the Nike Indoor Nationals in Boston. Adkins had a time of 22.73. Only the top eight advanced to the finals on Sunday. "On the national stage, his performance was very respectable," Mason County track and field Coach Mark Kachler wrote in an e-mail message. Fryman Earns All-America Status
Andy Fryman has earned Outdoor All-America status in the discus and hammer throw from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Fryman closed out his college career with an eighth place finish in the hammer throw and a 10th place finish in the discus at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships earlier this month.

Fryman Qualifies for Finals in Two Events at NCCA Championships
University of Kentucky senior Andy Fryman qualified for two event finals at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Drake University Wednesday. Fryman was ninth in the discus (179-11) and 12th in the hammer throw (210-5). The finals are Friday afternoon.

Fryman Gets Second Bid to National Meet
University of Kentucky senior Andy Fryman has received a second bid to the NCAA National Championship Track and Field Meet. Fryman earned an automatic bid with a third place finish in the discus at the Mideast Regional Saturday, and he found out Tuesday that he had received an at-large bid in the hammer throw. The National Meet is June 11-14 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Fryman was the only UK athlete to score in two individual events at the regional meet. He was sixth in the hammer throw (210-04). That's likely good enough for an NCAA at-large selection. The NCAA National Championship Meet is June 11-14 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Fryman 4th in Shot Put at SEC Championships
University of Kentucky senior Andy Fryman of Maysville was consistent at the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships at Auburn University. After finishing fourth in the hammer throw on Friday and fourth in the discus on Saturday, he took fourth place in the shot put (60-3.25) Sunday. Fryman earned a total of 15 points for the UK men who finished sixth. The Wildcats will compete in the NCAA Mideast Regional at the University of Arkansas May 30-31.

Fyrman Has Two Regional-Qualifying Marks at Owens Classic
University of Kentucky senior Andy Fryman of Maysville had two regional-qualifying marks at the Jesse Owens Track Classic at Ohio State University. Fryman finished second in the discus with a throw of 188-08. He was fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 205-03. Both throws are regional-qualifying marks. Fryman's freshmen school-record in the discus was broken by Colin Boevers on Friday. Next up for the Wildcats- the Southeastern Conference Championship May 15-18.

University of Kentucky senior Andy Fryman of Maysville finished third in the weight throw (64-3.25) and fourth in the shot put (57-8.50) at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. last weekend. Fryman's teammate, Rashaud Scott, finished second in the weight throw and tied Fryman's one-week old school record of 65-6. UK is off this week before competing in the

Fryman Sets UK Record in Weight Throw
University of Kentucky senior Andy Fryman of Maysville set the school record in the weight throw this weekend in the 8th Annual New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York City.
Fryman threw the 35 lb. weight a distance of 65-6.00, four inches farther than the previous UK record set in 1999 by Matt Kavanagh. Fryman finished third in the event. He also had a third place finish in the shot put with a toss of 57-08.50.
