Lex Turner will be the head coach of the St. Patrick Saints next season

Lex Turner will be the head coach of the St. Patrick boys' basketball team next season after serving with Chris Bauer as interim coach during the latter part of the 2024-25 season.

Turner was the Saints' head coach for twenty-eight seasons before retiring in 2004. His teams won 365 games, two district championships and two All "A" 10th Region championships.

Tony Moore had been the Saints' head coach since the 2020-21 season but was unable to coach last season due to health issues.

St. Patrick athletic director Angie Brant said "it was in the best interest of the program to move in a new direction."

Turner coached the Saints in summer basketball last month.

Moore has joined the Terry King's coaching staff at Bracken County. He says he will be the head coach of the freshman team.

Lex Turner back coaching the St. Patrick Saints

Twenty years after stepping down as the St. Patrick boys' basketball coach, Lex Turner is back on the Saints' bench.

Turner and Chris Bauer have taken over the interim coaching duties in the absence of Tony Moore who is sidelined by a health issue.

Daniel Sammons was the interim coach for the first five games of the season.

Turner was the Saints' head coach for twenty-eight seasons. His teams won 365 games, two district championships and two All "A" 10th Region championships.

Turner coached both the Saints and the Lady Saints during the 1987-88 season.

Bauer has coached at St. Patrick at various levels for many seasons.

Tony Moore promoted to Head Coach of the St. Patrick Saints

 Tony Moore, an assistant basketball coach at St. Patrick High School for several years, has been promoted to Head Coach of the Saints.

Moore succeeds Aaron Rigdon who left St. Patrick to take an assistant coaching position at Pike County Central.

Moore is a 1990 graduate of Maysville High School and a 1994 graduate of Circleville Bible College, now known as Ohio Christian University.

Moore helped lead the school to a third place finish in the 1994 National Christian College Athletic Association Division IIA National Tournament.

He scored 2,059 career points and was inducted into the Ohio Christian University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016.

Tony Moore Inducted Into Ohio Christian University Athletic Hall of Fame

Tony Moore was inducted into the Ohio Christian University Athletic Hall of Fame Thursday night.

Moore, a 1994 graduate of Circleville Bible College (now known as Ohio Christian University, is fourth on the Trailblazers' all-time scoring list with 2,059 career points. He helped lead the school to a third place finish in the 1994 National Christian College Athletic Association Division IIA National Tournament.

Moore, a 1990 graduate of Maysville High School, is the head coach of St. Patrick's boys' middle school and freshman basketball teams and is an assistant coach for St. Patrick's boys' junior varsity and varsity basketball teams.

(Updated to add that Circleville Bible College was the name of the school when Moore played there, and to correct that is was the 1994 National Christian College Athletic Association Division IIA National Tournament. The original post had it as NCAA IIA.)
