The Mason County Lady Royals mounted a furious rally, but came up short in a 55-49 loss to the Scott Lady Eagles tonight in the quarterfinal round of the 10th Region Tournament at GRC Arena in Winchester.
After trailing by as many as 16 points in the third quarter, the Lady Royals pulled to within two points in the final minute of the game, but the Lady Eagles scored the last four points.
Mason County scored 24 points in the fourth quarter after scoring just 25 points in the first three quarters.
The Lady Royals, who finished the season with a 14-9 record, were led in scoring by Rachel Payne with 13 points. Milyn Henry tossed in 11 points and Brianna Littleton added 10 points.
Sophia Allen was Scott's top scorer with 19 points. Madelyn Wilson chipped in with 15 points.
Scott advances to the semifinals to play Montgomery County. The Lady Indians beat the Harrison County Fillies 51-46 in overtime in tonight's first game.
