Lexi Young and Amirah Reed combined for 50 points to lead the Mason County Lady Royals to a 72-63 victory over the Powell County Lady Pirates on Thursday in the semifinals of the Kentucky 2A Championships Section 8 Tournament at Fleming County.
Young scored 22 of her career-high 28 points in the second half. Reed made five 3-pointers and matched her career-high with 22 points. Olivia Hughes added 10 points.
Mikyra Caudill poured in 36 points for Powell County (7-9).
The Lady Royals trailed 13-10 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored the Lady Pirates 16-6 in the second quarter and 46-44 in the second half.
Mason County (9-5) will face Fleming County in the championship game on Saturday at 5 p.m.
