Royals run by West Union 59-6

Malkolm Devine rushed for five touchdowns in the first half to lead the Mason County Royals to a 59-6 victory over the West Union Dragons tonight.

Mason County scored on its first nine possessions. The Royals led 27-0 at the end of the first quarter and 41-0 at halftime.

Mason County had 522 yards of total offense including 405 rushing yards. West Union had 190 yards of total offense.

Austin Lucas rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns. Devine ran for 101 yards. Chandler Dunaway completed 6 of 9 passes for 117 yards.

Mason County will close out the regular season at home against Conner next week.

Mason County hosts West Union Friday

After clinching a playoff berth last week, the Mason County Royals will close out the regular season with two non-district games, both at home Their opponent Friday night is West Union. Here are a few  fast facts:
  • Mason County had 352 yards of total offense in last week's victory over Holmes including 293 rushing yards.
  • West Union is a club team not affiliated with West Union High School. This is the sixth year of the program and the third at the high school level.
  • The Dragons have a  4-3 record and are coming off a 38-20 win over Green.
  • West Union has a huge offensive line and several skilled players including quarterback Ryan Rothwell and running backs Chris Silhavy, Clayton Madden and Dylan Grooms
  • Mason County routed West Union 51-0 last season in the first game between the two teams.
