Royals beat Harrison County 40-13

Keshaun Thomas passed for 166 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more scores to lead the Mason County Royals to a 40-13 win over the Harrison County Thorobreds in Cynthiana Friday night.

Landon Scilley had two touchdown receptions. Teegin Routt and Kenton Johnson each had a rushing touchdown.

Trey Walker rushed for 107 yards.

The Royals scored 27 unanswered points to run their overall record to 5-2. They are 2-0 in district games. 

Mason County will host the Graves County Braves next Thursday night.

Eight Royals scored a touchdown in Mason County's 52-0 victory over Holmes

Eight different players scored a touchdown as the Mason County Royals opened district play with a 52-0 victory over the Holmes Bulldogs in Covington Friday night.

Bryce Moran, CJ Arthur, Trey Walker, Kenton Johson and Keshaun Thomas each rushed for a touchdown in the first half.

Teegin Routt threw a touchdown pass to Cole Horch in the third quarter.

Micah Payne ran for a touchdown at the end of the third quarter and Hayden Horn rushed for the final touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Mason County had 401 yards of total offense (278 rushing and 123 passing).

Holmes only had 97 yards of offense, all rushing.

The final 16:47 was played with a running clock.

With 26 victories, Joe Wynn the second winningest coach at Mason County.

The Royals (4-2) will try to Cynthiana next week to play the Harrison County Thorobreds.

Royals shutout Vikings 27-0

Trey Walker rushed for two touchdowns and Bryce Moran had two interceptions, including a pick-six, to help the Mason County Royals shutout the Rowan County Vikings 27-0 in Morehead Friday night.

Walker ran three yards for a touchdown on the third play of the game. That was the only score of the first half.

Walker ran nine yards for a touchdown on the Royals' first drive of the second half.

In the fourth quarter, Moran returned an interception 39 yards for touchdown and MeCaiyon Jackson had a one-yard touchdown run.

The Royals held Rowan County to 104 yards of total offense.

Mason County is off next week before beginning district play September 29 vs. the Holmes Bulldogs.

Royals defense makes big plays in a 40-28 win over Fleming County

With Mason County clinging to a five-point lead and Fleming County driving deep into Royal territory, Caden Clark-Roberts returned a fumble 63 yards for a touchdown with 2:42 left in the game.

On Fleming County's next possession, Terrell Henry came up with his second interception of the game and the Royals left Flemingsburg with a 40-28 victory tonight.

There were four lead changes.

Keshaun Thomas threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Isaac Marshall on the Royals' first play.

Thomas also rushed for two touchdowns. The second one was set up by an interception return to the six yard line by Trey Walker.

Caden Clark-Roberts had a rushing touchdown in addition to his scoop-and-score.

Brady Sanders also ran for a touchdown.

Mason County is 7-0 overall and 2-0 in district play. The Royals are at home vs. Lewis County next week.

Royals shutout Fleming County 8-0 for district championship

The Mason County Royals snapped a nine-game losing streak to the Fleming County Panthers and won their first district championship since 2013 with an 8-0 victory tonight at Panther Field in Flemingsburg.

Trey Walker ran six yards for a touchdown and Ashton Adams rushed for the two-point conversion with 6:32 to play in the first quarter.

The Royals (9-3) had chances to blow open the game but missed two field goals and lost a fumble on second and goal from the one-yard line. 

The one score was enough as Mason County recorded its third shutout of the season.

The Royals will play the East Carter Raiders in the third round of the Class AAA playoffs next week in Grayson. East Carter defeated defending state champion Ashland 26-16 tonight.
