Lady Royals fall to Frederick Douglass 63-50

The Mason County Lady Royals lost to Frederick Douglass, a top 20 team, 63-50 at The Fieldhouse on Monday night.

Macey Littleton hit three 3-pointers and led the Lady Royals in scoring with 12 points. Lexi Young added 10 points.

Mason County (11-16) will close out the regular season on Wednesday night at Fleming County.

Macey Littleton and Trey Cracraf sign with Shawnee State University

Mason County seniors Macey Littleton and Trey Cracraft signed today to continue their golf and academic careers at Shawnee State University in Portsmouth.

Littleton qualified for the girls' state golf tournament as an individual her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. Last season she was the medalist in several regular season matches, led the Lady Royals to their first region championship since 2012, finished fourth in the Kentucky 2A Championships and finished ninth in the state tournament.

Littleton was named to the girls' All-Region team.

Cracraft was a key member of the Royals' golf team that won a Kentucky 2A sectional championship and the KHSAA Region 12 championship. He won the Mason County/St. Patrick Invitational and tied for 19th at the All-State Championship.

Cracraft was named to the boys' All-Region team.

Lady Royals upset Paris 57-39

The Mason County Lady Royals found their shooting touch in the second half and upset the Paris Lady Hounds 57-39 on Senior Night at The Fieldhouse on Saturday night.

The Lady Royals have struggled to make shots most of the season, but in the second half they shot 44.4 percent from the field and hit six 3-pointers. 

Mason County (11-15) outscored Paris 23-7 in the third quarter after trailing 24-23 at halftime.

There were seven ties and eight lead changes in the game.

Paris (18-8), ranked as high as No. 2 in the region, was without its second leading scorer, Jamie Cowan, due to an injury.

The Lady Royals had balanced scoring. Macey Littleton scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds, Avery Sims had 11 points and 10 rebounds, Lexi Young had 10 points and 11 rebounds and Laci Burns scored 10 points.

Sarah Payne pulled down eight rebounds.

Mason County will host Frederick Douglass on Monday night.

Young's free throws give the Lady Royals a 33-31 win over Scott

Lexi Young made two free throws with eight-tenths of a second left on the clock to give the Mason County Lady Royals a 33-31 win over the Scott Lady Eagles on Friday night at The Fieldhouse.

Mason County (9-14) trailed by eight points in the third quarter, but pulled to within four at the end of the quarter and outscored Scott 13-7 in the fourth quarter.

The loss snapped the Lady Royals' three-game losing streak.

Macey Littleton led Mason County in scoring with nine points.

The Lady Royals will travel to Cynthiana on Monday to play the Harrison County Fillies.

Lady Royals defeat Augusta 71-57

Macey Littleton had a game-high 18 points and Sarah Payne hit five 3-pointers and scored 17 points as the Mason County Lady Royals snapped a four-game losing streak with a 71-57 win over the Augusta Lady Panthers in Augusta on Saturday night.

Four Lady Panthers scored in double figures led by Laci Tackett with 16 points. Megan Jones scored 15 points, Reagan Tackett tossed in 14 and Kenzington Hinson added 10. 

There were four ties and seven lead changes in the first half.

Mason County led 51-42 at the end of the third quarter and 60-46 in the fourth quarter. Augusta would get no closer than 10 points.

The Lady Royals hit 12 3-pointers in the game and made 11-of-14 free throws in the fourth quarter.

Mason County (8-11) will play at Bracken County on Monday night.

Augusta (6-10) will be at home against Robertson County on Monday night.

Lady Royals fall to Dixie Heights

The Mason County Lady Royals were held to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters and lost to the Dixie Heights Colonels 49-38 on Saturday at The Fieldhouse.

After trailing by just three points at halftime, the Lady Royals were outscored 17-8 by the Colonels in the third quarter.

Mason County was led in scoring by Macey Littleton with 17 points. Laci Burns added 10 points.

The Lady Royals (7-9) will travel to Owingsville on Wednesday night to play the Bath County Lady Cats.

Lady Royals rally to beat Lady Saints 53-43 in OT

The Mason County Lady Royals rallied from an eight-point fourth quarter deficit and beat the St. Patrick Lady Saints 53-43 on Wednesday night at The Fieldhouse.

Makenna Roush hit a 3-pointer to give St. Patrick its biggest lead of the game at 41-33 with 4:56 remaining in regulation.

Macey Littleton started the comeback with a 3-pointer with 3:34 to go.

Sarah Payne hit two free throws with 55 seconds left to tie the score at 42-42, the only tie in the game.

The Lady Royals scored the first nine points of the extra period.

Littleton scored a game-high 18 points. 

Caroline McKay hit five 3-pointers and led St. Patrick is scoring with 16 points. Roush followed with 11 points and Emma Gallenstein added 10 points.

Mason County (7-7) will travel to West Liberty on Monday night to play Morgan County.

St. Patrick (8-5) will play St. Joseph Central on Saturday in Ironton, Ohio.

Lady Royals lose Rowan County 73-55 in 2A Sectional

The Mason County Lady Royals cut a 19-point deficit to eight late in the third quarter, but lost to the Rowan County Lady Vikings 73-55 in the quarterfinal round of the Kentucky 2A Championships Section 6 Tournament at The Fieldhouse on Monday night. 

Rowan County senior Haven Ford, the state's second leading scorer and a Murray State commit, scored a game-high 31 points.

Mason County (6-7) had three double figure scorers: Laci Burns with 18 points, Sarah Payne with 13 and Macey Littleton with 10.

The Lady Royals will host St. Patrick on Wednesday night at 6:30 at The Fieldhouse.

Rowan County (8-6) moves on to the semifinals to play Fleming County.

Lady Royals finish third in Vanous Lloyd Christmas Tournament

Laci Burns scored 13 points and the Mason County Lady Royals routed the Caverna Lady Colonels 62-19 on Thursday in the third place of the Vanous Lloyd Christmas Tournament at Warren Central.

Macey Littleton and Sarah Payne added 10 points each for the Lady Royals.

Mason County outscored Caverna 53-10 over the last three quarters.

The 62 points are a season-high for the Lady Royals.

Mason County (6-6) will host Rowan County in the Kentucky 2A Championships Section 6 Tournament on Monday at 6 p.m.

Lady Royals beat Christian County and advance to semis of Vanous Lloyd Christmas Tournament

The Mason County Lady Royals jumped out to a 14-0 lead and were able to hold on for a 53-47 win over the Christian County Lady Colonels on Tuesday night in the opening round of the Vanous Lloyd Christmas Tournament at Warren Central High School in Bowling Green.

Christian County (4-6) twice pulled to within a point. The second time was at 29-28 early in the third quarter, but the Lady Royals pulled away again with a 16-5 run including a 9-0 spurt. 

Macey Littleton hit four 3-pointers and led Mason County (5-5) in scoring with 17 points. Lexi Young and Laci Burns added 11 points apiece.

The Lady Royals advance to the semifinals and will play on Wednesday at 6 p.m. (CST).

Lady Royals defeat Campbell County 48-42

The Mason County Lady Royals snapped a two-game losing skid with a 48-42 win over the Campbell County Lady Camels Wednesday night at The Fieldhouse.

The Lady Royals made 19 of 22 free throws for 86.4 percent.

Laci Burns led Mason County (4-3) in scoring with 14 points. Macey Littleton followed with 14 and Avery Sims added 11. 

The Lady Royals will host Conner on Saturday at the Lady Royals Gym.

Lady Royals fall to NewCath in St. Elizabeth Healthcare Sports Medicine 9 vs. 10 Region Challenge

The Mason County Lady Royals were outscored 18-6 from three-point range in a 41-36 loss to the Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds at the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Sports Medicine 9 vs. 10 Region Challenge today at Bracken County.

The Thorobreds were 6-of-22 from behind the arc compared to 2-of-11 for the Lady Royals.

There were three ties and one lead change in the game. NewCath (2-2) led by as many as 12 points in the third quarter.

Macey Littleton led Mason County (3-2) in scoring with 11 points. Lexi Young and Avery Sims had 12 rebounds each.

The Lady Royals will travel to Falmouth on Monday to play the Pendleton County Lady Wildcats.

Lady Royals outscore Lady Bears 9-0 in fourth quarter for a 33-31 win

The Mason County Lady Royals outscored the Bracken County Lady Bears 9-0 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 33-31 win tonight at The Fieldhouse.

With Mason County trailing 31-30, Macey Littleton hit a three-pointer with 2:15 to play to give the Lady Royals their only lead of the game.

Bracken County missed a three-point shot at the buzzer.

It's the Lady Royals' 13th straight win over the Lady Bears.

Littleton led Mason County (2-2) in scoring with 13 points.

Nicole Archibald scored 15 points for Bracken County (2-3).

The Lady Royals' next game is Saturday vs. Newport Central Catholic in the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Sports Medicine 9 vs. 10 Region Challenge at Bracken County. 

The Lady Bears play at Eastern Brown Wednesday night.

Feldhaus Region 12 POY, Bennett Region COY

Mason County freshman Jake Feldhaus is the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association's Region 12 Player of the Year and Mason County Royals coach Bryson Bennett is the Region 12 Coach of the Year. 

Feldhaus is joined on the All-Region team by Mason County seniors Grant Owens and Trey Cracraft.

Mason County senior Macey Littleton was named to the girls' All-Region team.

Feldhaus, a second team all-stater, won the the Bronco Invitational and the Cooper Classic and was the Kentucky 2A sectional medalist. He tied for fifth at the All-State Championship and tied for 17th at the state tournament.

Bennett guided the Royals to the Kentucky 2A sectional championship, a third place finish in the Kentucky 2A Championship, a 10th place finish in the All-State Championship and the Region 12 title in his first season as head coach.

Owens won the Eagle Trace Invitational and the Ashland Invitational and was the Region 12 champion.

Cracraft won the Mason County/St. Patrick Invitational and tied for 19th at the All-State Championship.

Littleton was the medalist in several regular season matches, led the Lady Royals to their first region championship since 2012, finished fourth in the Kentucky 2A Championship and finished ninth in the state tournament.

Mason County finishes 9th in girls' state golf tournament

The Mason County Lady Royals finished in ninth place at the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Girls' State Golf Championship today at Bowling Green Country Club.

The Lady Royals shot 395 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 788. 

Madison Central won the state championship at 634.

Mason County senior Macey Littleton shot a 90 for the second straight day. Morgan Parker followed with a 96. Maura Hartman shot a 103, Bentley Shepherd a 106 and Sydney Ullery a 117.

The Lady Royals were Region 12 champions and qualified for the state finals by finishing third in the state first round.

Lady Royals shot 393 in opening round of state golf tournament

The Mason County Lady Royals shot 393 today in the opening round of the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Girls' State Golf Championship at Bowling Green Country Club.

Macey Littleton led the Lady Royals with a 90. Morgan Parker shot a 94, Bentley Shepherd a 102, and Maura Hartman and Sydney Ullery each shot a 107.

Madison Central shot 320 and has a seven-shot lead over Marshall County.

The final round will be played on Saturday.

Tee times set for opening rounds of state golf finals

Opening round tee times are set for the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf Championships at Bowling Green Country Club. 

Mason County freshman Jake Feldhaus, who qualified as an individual, will tee off at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Mason County Lady Royals qualified by finishing third in the state golf first round. Here are the Lady Royals' tee times on Thursday:

Bentley Shepherd, 8:10 a.m.

Maura Hartman, 8:30 a.m.

Morgan Parker, 8:40 a.m.

Sydney Ullery, 8:50 a.m.

Macey Littleton, 9:00 a.m.

All are Central Time.

Both the boys' and girls' tournaments are 36-hole events with no cuts.

Lady Royals qualify for state finals with third place finish in state golf first round

The Mason County Lady Royals qualified for the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Finals in Bowling Green by finishing third in the state golf first round today.

The Lady Royals had a team score of 384 at Winchester Country Club. Lexington Catholic was first at 329 and Madison Central was second at 332. The top three teams advance to the state finals.

Mason County was led by Macey Littleton with an 88. Sydney Ullery shot a 96, Morgan Parker a 97, Maura Hartman a 103 and Bentley Shepherd a 111. The top four scores are used for the team total.

The Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Finals will be played at Bowling Green Country Club October 7-8. There is no cut. All participants will play 36 holes. A practice round is scheduled on October 6.

Tees times set for first round state golf tournament

The tee times are set for the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA State Golf First Round.

Site 3 for Regions 9-12 for both the boys and girls is the Winchester Country Club. The boys will play on Monday, the girls on Tuesday. Here are Mason County's tee times:

Lady Royals are region champions for the first time since 2012

The Mason County Lady Royals won the Region 12 golf tournament today at Laurel Oaks Golf Course. It's their first region title since 2012.

The Lady Royals had a team score of 346. Boyd County was the runner-up at 365.

Mason County was led by Macey Littleton who finished third in the individual standings with a 74. Morgan Parker shot an 88, Bentley Shepherd a 91, Maura Hartman a 93 and Sydney Ullery a 94.

Mason County and Boyd County both advance to the first round of the state tournament.
