Matt Taylor promoted to head coach at Eastlake High School in Texas

Former St. Patrick and Fleming County boys' basketball coach Matt Taylor has been promoted to head boys' basketball coach at Eastlake High School in El Paso, Texas.

Taylor had been an assistant coach at Eastlake. He was the varsity basketball coach at Clint Independent School District before going to Eastlake.

Taylor played for coach Mike Reitz at Harrison County.

He was a graduate assistant at the University of Texas at El Paso before moving to Maysville to coach at St. Parick.

Taylor also coached tennis and boys' soccer at St. Patrick.

Kirkpatrick and Arn hired as basketball coaches at St. Patrick

John Kirkpatrick, the 2016 KABC Region 3 Coach of the Year at Trinity High School in Whitesville, is the new boys basketball coach at St. Patrick. 

Andy Arn, who was the boys basketball coach at St. Patrick for four seasons, is the new girls basketball coach at St. Patrick.

Kirkpatrick had a two-year record of 24-35 as the boys coach at Trinity. He coached the Trinity girls team to a 12-17 record

 in the 2013-14 season. 

Arn coached the Saints from the 2009-10 season through the 2012-13 season and compiled a 42-66 record. He was an assistant coach for the Lady Saints last season.

Kirkpatrick succeeds Matt Taylor who left after three seasons to become the head coach at Fleming County.

Arn succeeds Beth Garrison who resigned after accepting a teaching position in Lewis County. Garrison was the St. Patrick girls coach for three seasons.

Matt Taylor leaves St. Patrick for Fleming County

After three seasons as the boys basketball coach at St. Patrick, Matt Taylor is leaving to become the boys basketball coach at Fleming County.

Taylor says he's excited about the new job, but "heavy-hearted" about leaving St. Patrick. "You're kinda closing some chapters, then you're opening up some new ones, and, you know, hopefully we can keep our paths crossed and I keep these relationships that I've built because I wouldn't be who I am without St. Patrick."

Taylor says he wants to put together a plan that "will position Fleming County to hang banners every year, that's kinda the goal, and I think we can make that happen."

 St. Patrick was 34-52 under Taylor. The Saints' win total increased each year from 7 to 13 to 14.

Taylor also coached tennis and boys soccer at St. Patrick.

He succeeds Lamont Taylor who resigned after two seasons as Fleming County's head coach.
