Landen Bowling a freshman pitcher on UC-Clermont's runner-up team in Small College World Series

Landen Bowling, a 2020 graduate of Mason County High School, was a freshman pitcher on the University of Cincinnati-Clermont Cougars baseball team that finished second in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series.

UC-Clermont, the No.1 seed, lost to Penn State Du Bois 10-5 in the championship game on Thursday in Du Bois, PA. The Cougars had a 3-2 record in the double-elimination tournament. 

It's the third straight national championship for Penn State Du Bois.

UC-Clermont won the USCAA Small College World Series in 2013.

Mason County archers have first Top 10 finish in region

The Mason County archery team took 8th place in the NASP Region 8 Tournament in Williamstown on Saturday for the first Top 10 regional finish in the program's history.

The Royals were led by Shalee Bess (286), Andrew Jones (284) and Landen Bowling (281).

Mason County archers win Crusader Quest 3D Challenge

The Mason County archery team won the Crusader Quest 3D Challenge at Community Christian Academy in Independence on Saturday.

The Royals had a team score of 1636. The Conner Cougars took second place with a score of 1578. 

Senior Landen Bowling led the way for the Royals with a score of 285 with 18 tens, Bowling was the overall male finisher. Sophomore Jacob Brown was third in the boys' individual standings with a score of 280. He had 14 tens.

Senior Shalee Bess was the overall girls' winner with a score of 276. She had 15 tens.  Another sophomore- Laney Gifford- had a score of 267 with 10 tens- to take second place for high school girls.

Mason County wins 3-D Shoot

The Mason County archery team won the 3-D Shoot on Saturday at the Mason County Intermediate School.

A 3-D shoot uses three-dimensional targets that are shaped liked animals.

Mason County had a team score of 1,609. Pendleton County was the runner-up with a score of 1,531. Community Christian Academy took third place with a total of 1,508.

The Royals were led by senior Landen Bowling who had 16 tens and a score of 284.

Sophomore Jacob Brown followed with a score of 280. He had 13 tens.

Mason County archers take 4th place at Pendleton County Winter Warm-Up

The Mason County archery team finished in fourth place at the Pendleton County Winter Warm-Up on Saturday.

The Royals were led by senior Landen Bowling in fourth place (282) and junior Brandon Faul in fifth place (281).

Both Bowling and Faul  had 16 Tens.

Landen Bowling leads Royals to victory in Mason County Fall Shoot

Mason County senior Landen Bowling won the individual title and led the Royals to a first place in the team competition today in the Mason County Fall Shoot at The Fieldhouse.

Bowling had a score of 288 with 19 tens. Shalee Bess followed with a 285 for second place in the girls' rankings. She had 17 tens.

The Royals had a team score of 3,266. Pendleton County was second with a score of 3,196 and Bracken County was third with a total of 2,692.

It's Mason County's second victory in as many weeks.

Mason County archery team opens season with a win at Robertson County

The Mason County archery team opened the 2019-20 season with a victory at the Robertson County Fall Shoot Saturday.

Mason County had a team score of 3,287 followed by Pendleton County at 3,167 and Bracken County at 2,843.

Shalee Bess led the way for Mason County with a score of 285. She had 18 tens. Three other Mason County archers topped 280: Jacob Brown at 283, Brandon Faul at 282 and Landen Bowling at 281.

Mason County archery team competes in NASP Elite Tournaments

The Mason County archery team placed 32nd in Bullseye and 22nd in 3D at the National Archery in the Schools Program Tournaments in Nashville Saturday.

The Bullseye tournament was the NASP Championship. The 3-D tournament was the NASP IBO 3-D Championship

The team's score in bullseye was 99 points higher than last year.

This is the first year Mason County has had a 3-D team.

Landen Bowling led Mason County in Bullseye with a score of 290. He had 21 Tens. Bowling ranked 38th out of 400 high school boys.

Jacob Brown led Mason County in 3-D with a score of 282. He had 16 Tens. He ranked 65th out of 279 boys,

Mason County archery team qualifies for Elite Tournament

The Mason County archery team finished 31st out of 133 teams in 3D and 113th out of 262 teams in Bullseye at the National Archery in Schools Program National Eastern tournaments in Louisville.

Landen Bowling led the Royals in both tournaments. He had scores of 284 in both tournaments with 17 Tens in 3D and 15 Tens in Bulls eye.

Shalee Bess had Mason County's second highest scored in 3D: 280 with 16 Tens. She was followed by Anthony Ventura with a 278 and Jake Hardeman, DeAnna Roberts and Jacob Brown with 275s.

Ventura had a 281 in Bullseye with 13 Tens followed by Roberts and Anastasia Williams with 279s.

Mason County qualified for the Elite Tournament in Nashville in both divisions.

Mason County Royals 19th in KHSAA Archery Championships

The Mason County Royals archery team finished 19th out of 22 teams in the KHSAA State Championships today in Bowling Green.

Mason County had a team score of 1,927. Bullitt Central won the state championship with a score 2,020.

The Royals were led by junior Landen Bowling who tied for 41st place with a score of 288. Bowling had 19 Tens.

Mason County boys archery team wins second straight KHSAA Region 7 championship

The Mason County boys archery team won its second straight KHSAA Region 7 championship and Mason County junior Landen Bowling won the individual region championship today at The Fieldhouse.

The Royals had a team score of 1,936. Pendleton County was the runner-up with a score of 1,926.

Bowling had a score of 293 and had 24 Tens. He edged Harrison County seventh grader Taylor Conway by two points.

Mason County senior Anthony Ventura finished in fourth place with a score of 284. He had 18 Tens.

Mason County archery 11th in NASP Region 8 Tournament

The Mason County archery team took 11th place in the National Archery in the Schools Program Region 8 Tournament which took place Friday and Saturday at four sites in the Mason County school system.

It's the first time Mason County has hosted the tournament.

Mason County had a team score of 3,248, just 12 points behind the 10th place team, Harrison County.

Simon Kenton won the tournament with a score of 3,408.

Mason County was led by junior Landen Bowling with a score of 286. He had 19 Tens and ranked eighth among high school boys.

Mason County archery team 2nd at Harrison County Invitational

The Mason County High School archery team took second place at the Harrison County Invitational Saturday.

Mason County had a team score of 3,240. Pendleton County won the tournament with a score of 3,284.

Landen Bowling led Mason County with a score of 283 followed by Anthony Ventura with a score of 282. Both had 16 tens.

Mason County archers in Reindeer Shoot

The Mason County High School archery team finished in third place in the B. Michael Caudill Middle School Reindeer Shoot Saturday.

Madison Central won the tournament with a team score of 3,421 followed by Model with a score of 3,266 and Mason County with a score of 3,246.

The Royals were led by junior Landen Bowling with a score of 286. He had 19 Tens.

Mason County archers 2nd in Mason County Fall Shoot

The Mason County archery team finished second in the Mason County Fall Shoot Saturday at The Fieldhouse.

Ryle won the tournament with a score of 3,357. Mason County had a score of 3,282.

Mason County junior Landen Bowling was fourth in the boys' standings with a score of 284. He had 16 tens.

Mason County senior Anthony Ventura took fifth place with a score of 283 and 18 tens.

Three Mason County girls were in the Top 10 of the high school girls' standings- sophomore DeAnna Roberts was fifth with a score of 279 and 13 tens, senior Anastasia Williams was seventh with a score of 277 and 11 tens and freshman Laney Gifford was eighth with a score of 273 and 11 tens.

Landon Bowling leads the way for Mason Co. archers at World Tournament

Mason County sophomore Landen Bowling led the Mason County Royals at the National Archery in the Schools World Tournament in Louisville today.

Bowling had a score of 292 with 24 Tens. He ranked 6th for sophomore boys, 11th for high school boys and 12th overall for boys.

Mason County ranked 47th as a team in the high school competition and 43rd in the middle school division.

Mason County archery team 41st in Eastern Nationals

The Mason County Royals had a score of 3177 and ranked 41st out of 70 teams Thursday at the National Archery in the Schools Program Eastern Nationals in Louisville.

Landen Bowling led the Royals with a score of 283 out of a possible 300. He had 16 Tens.
Shaelee Bess followed with a 282. She had 17 Tens.

Mason County's middle school and high school teams both had qualifying scores Thursday and will find out next Thursday if they will be going to the NASP World Tournament next month in Louisville.

Mason County archery team makes first trip to the KHSAA state championships

In its first trip to the KHSAA Archery State Championship, the Mason County boys team finished in 22nd place today.

The Royals, the 7th Region champions, had a team score of 1,884. Bullitt Central won the boys state championship with a score of 2,030.

Sophomore Landen Bowling led Mason County with a score of 286 out of a possible 300. He finished in 59th place. Bowling had 19 Tens.

8th grader Jacob Brown had Mason County's second best score at 279 and had 12 Tens and sophomore Elijah Throckmorton followed with a score of 267. He had eight Tens.

Three Lady Royals qualified for the state tournament as individuals. Sophomore Shaelee Bess had a score of 274 with 10 Tens, freshman DeAnna Roberts had a score of 270 with 13 Tens and junior Stacey Williams had a score of 257 with eight Tens. 

Both the Mason County Middle School and Mason County High School teams will compete in the National Archery in the Schools Program Eastern Nationals May 10 in Louisville.

Mason County post a school-record score in NASP state tourney

The Mason County High School archery team had a school-record score of 3,197 at the National Archery in the Schools Program Kentucky State Tournament today in Louisville.

Sophomore Landen Bowling had Mason County's best score at 287. He had 19 Tens. He ranked 42nd out of 1,154 high school boys and 12th out of 335 sophomores.

The Mason County Middle School archery team had a score of 3,003 with eighth grader Jacob Brown leading the way with a score of 278. He had 13 Tens.

The Mason County teams will find out next month if they qualified for NASP National Tournament.

The Mason County boys team and three Lady Royals will compete in the KHSAA State Archery Championship April 26 at Kentucky Basketball Academy in Lexington. The Royals qualified for the state tournament by winning the 7th Region title earlier this month. Bowling was the individual region champion. Three Lady Royals -- Stacey Williams, Shaelee Bess and DeAnna Roberts -- also qualified for the state tournament as individuals.

Mason County boys archery team and Landon Bowling win region titles, three Lady Royals also qualify for state

The Mason County Royals won the 7th Region archery championship and Mason County sophomore Landen Bowling won the boys individual region title today at Harrison County.

The regional titles are the first in the seven-year history of the Mason County archery program.

The Royals had team total of 1,931 points. Harrison County was second with 1,930 points and Pendleton County was third with 1,928 points.

Bowling had a score of 291 with 22 Tens.

Harrison County won the girls region championship with 1,939 points. Pendleton County was second with 1,920 points and Mason County was third with 1,878 points.

The top two teams advance to the state tournament.

Three Lady Royals- Stacey Williams, Shaelee Bess and DeAnna Roberts- qualified for the state tournament as individuals.

Bridget White is the Mason County archery coach.
