MCC 2-Man Tournament September 23 and 24

Maysville Country Club has another 2-Man Tournament scheduled September 23 and 24.

The format is a scramble both days. 

The field, which is limited to 60 teams. will be placed into flights based on the first round scores.

The entry fee for each golfer is $100 for non-members and $80 for members.

Jake O'Mara and Eric Schumacher won the Maysville Country Club 2-Man Tournament Sunday with a 36-hole scored of 27-under 117.

O'Mara and Schumacher shot a 58 Saturday and a 59 Sunday.

Logan Hughes and Jordan Hughes were second at 25 under, and Mark Moore and Logan Liles finished third at 22 under.

Corey Richmond wins Chippeways

Corey Richmond won the Chippeways golf tournament for the second time in three years.

Richmond defeated six-time champion Eric Schumacher 4 and 3 in the championship match of the 88th edition of the tournament Sunday afternoon at Maysville Country Club.

Earlier in the day in the semifinals, Richmond beat defending champion Logan Liles, and Schumacher defeated his son, Evan Schumacher.

Corey Richmond wins 86th Chippeways

Last year, Corey Richmond was the Chippeways runner-up. This year, Richmond is the Chippeways champion.

Richmond, a former West Union High School and Northern Kentucky University golfer, defeated three-time champion Jackson Frame in the championship match of the 86th Chippeways at Maysville Country Club today.

Earlier in the day in the semifinals, Richmond defeated six-time champion Eric Schumacher, and Frame beat Justin Lang.

This is the first Chippeways championship for Richmond.

Knox wins Firecracker for the 2nd straight year

Golf is hard, but BJ Knox made it look easy today in the final round of the 53rd Firecracker golf tournament at Kenton Station Golf Course.

Knox, a Mason County grad and a junior at Shawnee State University, birdied the final eight holes to win the tournament for the second straight year.

Knox fired a 10-under 60 today, including a 27 on the back nine, and had a 36-hole total of 16-under 124.

Tyler Lippert, who began the day with a one-shot lead over Knox and Josh Stafford, shot a 66 in the final round and finished in second place, five shots behind Knox.

Eric Schumacher fired a 63 today and finished third at 10-under.

85th Chippeways begins Friday at MCC

The 85th Chippeways match play golf tournament, postponed in June, takes place Friday through Sunday at Maysville Country Club.

First round matches will be played on Friday, the quarterfinals on Saturday and the semifinals and finals on Sunday.

Eric Schumacher won the tournament for the sixth time last year.
Three other former champions- Joe Traxel, Drew Traxel and Jackson Frame- are also in the championship flight.

86 golfers are signed up for the 85th Chippways

Maysville Country Club met its goal of 80 golfers by Sunday's deadline to sign up for the 85th Chippeways tournament.

The match play tournament, normally played in June, was postponed until July 24-26. 

MCC last month 80 golfers were needed by June 28 to have the m tournament this year. After only 69 had signed up by June 28, the registration deadline was extended to yesterday.

MCC pro shop manager Teron Bay said in an email that 86 golfers have signed up. He said if another six or so sign up, another flight will be added.

Eric Schumacher won the tournament for the sixth time last year.

Mason County's Evan Schumacher injured in a fall

Evan Schumacher, a rising senior at Mason County High School, suffered multiple injuries in a fall at a rock formation in Morehead on Thursday.

Schumacher was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

His father, Eric, has been providing updates on Facebook. He wrote today, that Evan's "surgery went very well."

Evan is a member of the Mason County golf and basketball teams.

84th Chippeways is this week at Maysville Country Club

It's Chippeways Week at Maysville Country Club. The 84th edition of the match play tournament begins Friday and runs through Sunday.

Jackson Frame is the two-time defending champion and has won three of the last four Chippeways.

Frame defeated five-time champion Eric Schumacher 3 and 1 in the championship match last year.

Jackson Frame wins second straight Chippeways and 3rd in four years

Jackson Frame won the Chippeways golf tournament at Maysville Country Club for the second straight year and the third time in four years.

Frame sank a long birdie putt on No. 17 to beat five-time champion Eric Schumacher 3 and 1 in the championship match of the 83rd Chippeways this afternoon.

Earlier today in the semifinals, Frame defeated Troy Grooms and Schumacher beat Drew Traxel.

Frame is the first back-to-back champion since Mark Blakefield won three straight in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

Frame joins Schumacher, Blakefield, Gary Magee and Bob Curtis as the only golf golfers who have won at least three Chippeways championships. Curtis is a four-time champion.

Maysville Country Club members have won the last seven Chippeways and 17 of the last 18.

Schumacher and Traxel win KSGC 2-Man Scramble at 31 under par

Eric Schumacher and Drew Traxel won the Kenton Station Golf Course Two-Man Scramble with a two-day total of 31-under 109. They shot a 54 on Saturday and 55 on Sunday.

Logan McIntosh and Bobby Kearney, and Bill O'Mara and Jake O'Mara tied for second place at 20-under.

Schumacher had a hole-in-one on No. 17 Saturday. Kearney aced No. 3 on Sunday.

In the First Flight, Jackson Frame and Robert Walton, and Matthew Grayson and Steve Grayson tied for first place at 20-under.

The 24th Laurel Oaks Classic is this Saturday and Sunday at Laurel Oaks Golf Course. Eric Schumacher is the defending champion of the 36-hole stroke play tournament. Schumacher won the Chippeways at Maysville Country Club for a record fifth time last month.
