Lady Royals cruise to district title

The Mason County Lady Royals led 16-0 and 35-3 on their way to a 64-21 win over the St. Patrick Lady Saints in the championship game of the 39th District Tournament tonight at Bracken County.

Ten Lady Royals scored. Whitney O'Mara led the way with 12 points. A.J. Reed followed with 11 and Erin Kumler added 10.

Victoria McKay had a game-high 14 points for St. Patrick.

Lady Saints edge Augusta to advance to the region

The St. Patrick Lady Saints edged the Augusta Lady Panthers 59-57 in overtime in the upper bracket semifinal game of the 39th District Tournament to earn a berth in the 10th Region Tournament for the first time since 2011.

Victoria McKay led St. Patrick in scoring with 14 points. Lexi Scales and Libby Gallenstein scored 13 points apiece. Augusta senior Samantha Kennard scored a game-high 23 points.

The Lady Saints advance to the championship game Thursday night. Mason County and Bracken County meet in the lower bracket semifinal game Tuesday night.
