Mike Vacik signs with Kentucky Wesleyan

Mason County senior Mike Vacik signed today to play football at Kentucky Wesleyan College, an NCAA Division II school in Owensboro.

Vacik chose Kentucky Wesleyan over Lindsey Wilson College.

"I loved it; the coaches were really nice," Vacik said about his visit to Kentucky Wesleyan.

He will major in biology with a minor in English and hopes to attend medical school after college.

Vacik played a number of positions on the offensive and defensive lines for Mason County and was the Royals' long snapper.

Vacik will look to play defensive end for Kentucky Wesleyan since the Panthers have a lot of returning players on the offensive line.

Vaick hit the weight room after transferring to Mason County from Kansas before his junior season. He holds the Mason County record in the squat at 545 pounds.

Mason County coach Jonathan Thomas said Vacik was "a tireless worker, very athletic for his size, very strong."

Thomas said Vacik "put in a ton of work in the weight room. So, you know, anything that he's going to get from here on out, he definitely deserves because he's definitely put the work in."
