Mason County opened track and field season at Bracken County

The Mason County track and field teams opened the outdoor season Saturday at Bracken County. The Lady Royals were runners-up to Bishop Brossart. The Royals took seventh place.

First place finishes by Mason County athletes include:
  • Te'a King in the 100 meter dash (12.84) and the 200 meter dash (27.10);
  • Jordan Frodge in the high jump (4-10.00);
  • The girls 4x100 meter relay team of Sophia Fernandez, Jordan Frodge, Leeanna Holler and Iyanna Jones (53.87).
Iyanna Jones was the high point winner for female athletes. 

Bracken County senior Jacob Hamilton won the 1600 meter run in a time of 4:48.73.

Marissa Scilley sets school new record in the long jump at Mason Co. indoor track and field meet

Mason County junior Marissa Scilley set a new school record in the long jump at 15-09 Saturday at the Mason County indoor track and field meet.

The Louisville Central girls and the St. Henry boys won the team titles.

The Mason County girls finished second. 

The Bracken County boys took fifth place and the Mason County boys finished in sixth place.

Other first place finishes by Mason County athletes include:
  • Rheagan Sizemore, 3,000 meter run (11:51.05) and pole vault (8-06.00)
  • The girls 4x800 meter relay team (11:11.45)
  • Dalton Kindt, shot put (45-00.00)
Bracken County senior Jacob Hamilton won the 1,600 meter run (4:49.75) and the 3,000 meter run (9:59.52).

Mason County will host the final regular season meet of the season this Saturday.

Rockcastle Co. girls and St. Henry boys win Mason Co. meet

The Rockcastle County girls and the St. Henry boys won the indoor track and field meet at the Carmuese/Mason County Schools Indoor Athletic Complex Saturday.

The Mason County girls finished in second place. The Bracken County boys took fifth place and the Mason County boys finished in eighth place.

First place finishes by Mason County athletes include:

  • The girls' 4x400 meter relay team (4:40.09)
  • The girls' 4x800 meter relay team (11:03.94)
  • Jordan Frodge, girls' high jump (4-10.00)
  • Rheagan Sizemore, girls pole vault (8-06.00)
Bracken County senior Jacob Hamilton won the boys' 800 meter run (2:11.63) and the boys' 1600 meter run (4:53.37). He finished second in the boys' 3000 meters (10:17.72).

Bracken Co. boys 5th, Mason Co. girls 16th, Bracken Co. girls 19th in state XC meets

The Bracken County Polar Bears took fifth place in the boys Class A state cross country meet, the Mason County Lady Royals finished 16th in the girls Class 2A meet and the Bracken County Lady Bears were 19th in the girls Class A meet at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington Saturday.

Bracken County junior Jacob Hamilton finished in fifth place (16:31.14).

Bracken County sophomore Jared Jefferson took 11th place (16:56.10).

The Mason County Lady Royals were led by 8th grader Hayden Faris in 57th place (21:30.60)

Sophomore Heather Ebert was the Bracken County Lady Bears' top runner. She took 86th place (22:46.02).

Bracken Co. boys, Mason Co. girls win Buffalo Trace Conference XC meet

The Bracken County boys and the Mason County girls won the Buffalo Trace Conference Cross Country meet at Mason County Wednesday night.

Bracken County senior Jacob Hamilton was the boys individual champion with a time of 16:27.91.

Fleming County senior Olivia Leet won the girls race with a time of 20:18.79.

A trophy is awarded to the school that has the lowest combined boys and girls varsity score. For the first time, Bracken County won the trophy over Mason County. Bracken County had 60 points. Mason County had 77.

Bracken County boys, Simon Kenton girls win Mason County XC Invitational

The Bracken County boys and the Simon Kenton girls won the 13th Mason County Cross Country Invitational Saturday.

Bracken County was led by senior Jacob Hamilton in fourth place (16:53.3) and sophomore Jared Jefferson in fifth place (17:00.5). 

Simon Kenton junior Kyle Mastin won the boys race in a time of 16:19.1. Simon Kenton Sophia sophomore DeLisio was the girls champion in a time of 19:25.8.

Bracken Co. Boys 10th, Mason Co. Girls 13th, Mason Co. Boys 26th in XC State Meets

Bracken County finished 10th in boys Class A while Mason County took 13th place in girls Class AA and 26th in boys Class AA at the KHSAA cross country state meets today at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Bracken County was led by Jared Jefferson with a 22nd place finish in a time of 17:11.48 and Jacob Hamilton in 25th place with a time of 17:16.72.

Rheagan Sizemore was the Mason County Lady Royals' top runner with a 33rd place finish in a time of 20:50.09.

The Mason County boys were led by Tanner Kirkland who finished in 129th place in a time of 18:44.34.

Augusta senior Camryn Snapp was 31st (17:22.21) in the boys Class A meet, Bracken County freshman Heather Ebert was 39th (21:40.14) in the girls Class A meet, Fleming County junior Olivia Leet was 18th (20:16.92) in the girls Class AA meet and Fleming County sophomore Robert Applegate was 117th (18:34.24)  in the boys Class AA meet.

Mason County Wins Buffalo Trace Conference

Mason County won the girls race and Bracken County won the boys race in the Buffalo Trace Conference cross country meet at Mason County tonight. Mason County had the lowest combined score and won the overall trophy.

Fleming County junior Olivia Leet was the girls winner, while Bracken County junior Jacob Hamilton won the boys race.

The top 7 seven runners in the varsity races are 1st Team All Buffalo Trace Conference
