Wood and Boone go 1--1 in state tennis tournament

Mason County's girls' doubles tennis team of Emily Wood and Bailey Boone won their first match but lost their second match today in the KHSAA State Championships presented by UK HealthCare today at Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville.

Wood and Boone defeated Mercy Academy 6-1, 6-2 in the Round of 64. They lost to Mayfield 6-0, 6-1 in the Round 32.

Emily Wood and Bailey Boone qualify for the state tennis tournament

The Mason County girls' doubles team of Emily Wood and Bailey Boone qualified for the state tennis tournament by reaching the semifinals of the 10th Region Tournament in Alexandria Monday night.

Wood, a senior, and Boone, a freshman, defeated Montgomery County 6-3, 6-0 in the quarterfinals before losing to George Rogers Clark 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals.

Wood and Bailey received a first round bye. They were 6-1, 6-4 winners over Bracken County Friday night.

The Clark's Pump-n-Shop State Tennis Tournament begins Monday at Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville.

Mason County senior Emily Wood signs with the University of the Cumberlands

Mason County senior Emily Wood signed Monday to continue her academic and soccer careers at the University of the Cumberlands.

Wood played in all 18 of Mason County's game last season. She scored 13 goals and had six assists. She was also a member of the Mason County tennis team.
