St. Patrick seniors Nick Anderson and Chris Owens signed letters of intent today to play basketball at Transylvania University. Both players were named to the All-Region Team. Owens averaged 21.6 points per game this past season and is third on the Saints' all-time scoring list with 2,009 career points. Anderson averaged 15.6 points per game his senior season and is 18th on the Saints' all-time scoring list with 1,145 career points. Congrats to both. They are a very special pair and not for what they accomplished in hoops but for what they accomplished in 3 sports. They are a fine example for peewee and parents alike for the benefits of not specializing in 1 sport at an early age. I am afraid that someday athletes like these will someday become extinct.
