The Mason County Royals outscored the Clark County Cardinals 32-14 in the second half and won 62-54 today at Clark County. The Royals led by as many as seven in the first quarter.
Clark County senior guard Preston Knowles scored 17 points in the second quarter and the Cardinals were up 40-30 at the half. Knowles scored the first basket of the third quarter to make it 42-30. Mason County ended the third quarter on a 19-3 run and lead 49-45. The Royals lead 59-50 with :34 seconds to go. Clark County scored four straight points to cut it to 59-54. Knowles missed a couple of three-point shots and Mason County made three free throws to make the final 62-54. Tony Borwning had two huge baskets for the Royals in the fourth quarter. Darius Miller led Mason County with a game-high 26 points and 14 rebounds. Russ Middleton scored 12 points and Trevor Setty added 11. Knowles was held to six points in the second half and finished with 23. Clark County senior Tristan Jones scored eight of his 13 points in the first quarter. The Royals are 20-2. It's Mason County's seventh straight 20 win season and the 30th 20-win season in school history.
