St. Patrick senior Colin Faris is the state champion in the 50 yard freestyle. He set a new state record in a time of 20.77 seconds in the state swimming finals today in Louisville. Faris broke the previous record of 20.82 seconds set by Josh Hettick of St. Xavier in 1998. Faris was second in the 100 yard freestyle with a personal best time of 46.33 seconds.
Deming sophomore Amanda Miller finished sixth in the 50 yard freestyle (25.31) and ninth in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:10.39).
