Lexi Young wins three state titles, Lady Royals state runners-up

Lexi Young won three individual state titles and led the Mason County Lady Royals to a runner-up finish at the KHSAA Class 2A State Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday in Louisville.

The Lexington Catholic Lady Knights won the state championship with 108 points. Mason County had 100 points. Calloway County finished in third place with 66 points.

Young is the state champion in the 60 meter dash (8.05), the long jump (18-03.00) and the high jump (5-02.00) and took third place in the 200 meter dash (26.88).

Kenzie Gulley finished second to Young in the 60 meter dash (8.07).

Makaylynn Crabtree was the runner-up (32-03.50) and Reese Hardeman was fourth (30-08.25) in the shot put.

Ava Thompson tied for second in the pole vault (10-06.00).

Madison Howard was third in the long jump (16-02.50) and fourth in the triple jump (31-01.50).

Sarah Payne was fourth in both the pole vault (10-06.00) and the 400 meter dash (1:02.38).

Amirah Reed was fourth (10.13) and Howard ninth (10.90) in the 60 meter hurdles.

Brooklyn Young was sixth in the triple jump (29-11.00).

Thompson was 11th in the high jump (4-08.00).

Haven Hamilton was 14th in the 200 meter dash (29.03).

Lily Dean was 17th in the (14:49.47) in the 3000 meter run.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Payne, Thompson, Kolby Galloway and Cece Hiatt finished fourth ((4:26.16).

The 4x800 meter relay team of Galloway, Jennifer Buttery, Hiatt and Young was eighth (11:19.17).
