The Mason County boys' 4x800 meter relay team wins a state championship, Royals eighth in team standings

The Mason County boys' 4x800 meter relay team of Peyton Ullery, Bryant Curtis, Dashawn Overly and Ed Brannon won a state championship on Saturday with a time of 8:18.16.

The 4x800 meter relay team led the Royals to an eighth place finish in the team standings at the KHSAA Class 2A State Indoor Track and Field Championships in Louisville. Mason County ended up with 27 points. The Covington Catholic Colonels won the state championship with 68 points.

Overly was fifth (9:15.55) and Brannon (9:16.94) was sixth in the 3000 meter run.

Ullery was ninth (2:04.81) and Nicholas Schiltz was 17th (2:09.79) in the 800 meter run.

Curtis was 12th in the 1500 meter run (4:29.49).

Kyler Burton was seventh (39-10.00) and Ashayne Jones was eighth (39-08.00) in the shot put.

Trazon Lang was fifth (5-10.00) and Max Arrasmith was ninth (5-08.00) in the high jump.

Elijah Reed was eighth in the pole vault (10-00.00) and 11th in the triple jump (37-10.50).

Keshaun Thomas was 12th in the 200 meter dash (24.06),15th in the 60 meter dash (7.39) and 15th in the long jump (18-04.25).

Jaxen Crabtree was 19th in the long jump (18-01.50).

The 4x400 meter relay team of Ullery, Thomas, Curtis and Reed finished ninth (3:43.47).
