Amirah Reed made five 3-pointers and scored 24 points and Lexi Young had 15 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Mason County Lady Royals to a 56-52 victory over the Nicholas County Lady Jackets on Monday night in the quarterfinal round of the 10th Region Tournament at Bourbon County.
Carlee Buttery added 12 points for the Lady Royals (21-11) before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
Maggie Simons scored 27 points and Tessa Humphries tossed in 12 for Nicholas County (22-11).
Mason County led 27-17 in the second quarter, but Nicholas County ended the first half on a 8-2 run to close the gap to 29-25.
The Lady Jackets took a 32-31 lead midway through the third quarter, the first of seven lead changes in the quarter.
Mason County was up 49-42 with just over four minutes left in the game.
Nicholas County pulled to within 55-52 with three seconds to go.
Young made 1-of-2 free throws to seal the win.
Mason County will play George Rogers Clark in the semifinals on Friday at 6 p.m. The Lady Cardinals routed the Scott Lady Eagles 61-33 in the opening game of the tournament.
