Lady Royals defeat Lady Panthers

Amirah Reed made four 3-pointers and scored 25 points to lead the Mason County Lady Royals to a 61-48 win over the Augusta Lady Panthers on Tuesday night in the semifinals of the 39th District Tournament at Bracken County.

Carlee Buttery had 19 points and eight rebounds and Lexi Young finished with 15 points and eight rebounds for Mason County (20-10).

Reagan Tackett made five 3-pointers and scored 17 points for Augusta (13-14). Kenzington Hinson followed with 12 points and Laci Tackett added 11 points.

Augusta led 12-5 and 14-7. Mason County went on a 14-3 run to lead 21-17 with 2:22 left in the second quarter. The Lady Panthers responded with an 8-2 run to go up 25-23. It was 25-all at the half.

Mason County was up 44-39 after three quarters. Reagan Tackett opened the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer but the Lady Royals reeled off seven straight points to lead 51-42 with 3:03 to play. Augusta never got closer than six points.

The Lady Royals outshot the Lady Panthers from the field 47.1 percent to 33.3 percent. 

Mason County will play the Bracken County Lady Bears in the championship game Thursday at 6 p.m.
