Archibald pours in 30 points to lead the Polar Bears past the Saints

Chase Archibald made five 3-pointers and scored 30 points and the Bracken County Polars Bears defeated the St. Patrick Saints 66-54 on Monday night in the semifinals of the 39th District Tournament at Bracken County.

Ashton Buchanan added 13 points for the Polar Bears (11-18).

St. Patrick (3-21) was led by Amari Myrick with 25 points. Abi Ignacio tossed in 15 points.

Bracken County led 22-12 at the end of the first quarter and pushed the lead to 29-17 before St. Patrick ended the second quarter on a 9-1 run to cut the gap to 30-26.

The Saints pulled to within 34-32 with 5:50 left in the third quarter, but the Polar Bears answered with 13-0 straight points to begin a 17-1 run end the quarter for a 51-33 lead.

Archibald opened the fourth quarter with his fifth 3-pointer to give the Polar Bears a 21-point cushion.

Bracken County was up 66-40 with 3:37 left to play. 

St. Patrick scored the last 14 points of the game.

The Polar Bears move on to Thursday night's championship game vs. the winner of Tuesday night's game between Augusta and Mason County.
