Braylon Hamilton made four 3-pointers, scored a game-high 20 points and hit four clutch free throws to lead the Mason County Royals to a 63-58 win over the Holy Cross Indians on Friday night at The Fieldhouse.
Mason County (13-7) jumped out to a 9-0 lead and was up 25-12 with just under six minutes left in the second quarter.
Holy Cross (13-7) then reeled off 11 straight points to pull within two points.
Mason County closed the half on an 8-2 run thanks to a steal and a two-handed dunk by Landon Scilley, Braeden Myrick's floater and a 3-pointer by Marcus Gibbs.
Hamilton opened the third quarter with a trey to push the lead to 35-25, but the Indians rallied to tie the score at 47-47 with 6:26 remaining in the game.
It was 53-all with 2:06 left. Cole Horch scored on an inbounds play to put the Royals in the lead for good. Teegin Routt followed with an "And one" to make the score 58-53.
After Holy Cross scored, Hamilton sank two free throws with 31 seconds to go for a 60-55 lead.
The Indians made a 3-pointer to make it a one possession game.
Hamilton went back to the line and hit two more free throws with 23 seconds left to push the lead to 62-58.
Routt made 1-of-2 free throws with six-tenths of a second on the clock.
Mason County made nine 3-pointers, won the rebounding battle (27-23) and outscored Holy Cross 18-6 on second-chance points.
The Royals will host the Bourbon County Colonels on Tuesday night.
