Royals fell behind 13-0 in a 67-60 loss to Boone County

The Mason County Royals fell behind 13-0 and could not catch up in a 67-60 loss to the Boone County Rebels on Thursday night in Florence.

Mason County (12-7) mounted a couple of big rallies. After the slow start, they twice trimmed the deficit to three in the second quarter at 19-16 and 24-21, but Boone County pushed the lead to 43-27 at the end of the first half.

The Rebels took their biggest lead at 50-29 early in the third quarter. The Royals rallied again to close to within five at 56-51 with 4:55 left in the game. Boone County responded with a 10-3 run to go up 66-54 with under a minute to play.

The loss snapped Mason County's three-game winning streak.

Thomas Williams scored a game-high 32 points for Boone County.

Jake Feldhaus led Mason County in scoring with 22 points. Landon Scilley scored 14 points and Braylon Hamilton added 11 points.

The Royals will be right back in action Friday night at home vs. the Holy Cross Indians.
