A big rule change is coming for high school basketball beginning with the 2023-24 season.
The National Federation of State High School Associations announced Tuesday that teams will shoot two free throws when they are in the bonus. The one-and-one free throws will be eliminated.
Five fouls on a team in each quarter will put the opposing team in the bonus. Team fouls will reset at the end of each quarter.
In recent years, seven fouls in a half put the other team in the bonus for one-and-one free throws. When 10 teams fouls were called in a half, the opposing shot two free throws after each foul.
