Here are a few news and notes:
- Darren Williams gave up three runs on five hits and struck out six in Kentucky's 3-0 loss to Alabama in the opening round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Hoover, Alabama Tuesday evening. Williams got the start after striking out the side in the ninth inning in the Wildcats' 6-4 victory over No. 3 Florida on Senior Night last Friday. The Mason County grad picked up his second save of the season.
- Mason County sophomore Kenzie Gulley had two stolen bases in two attempts in the Lady Royals' 17-4 loss to Harrison County in the 10th Region Tournament Monday and finished the season with 65 stolen bases in 65 attempts. In the regular season, Gulley led the state in stolen bases (63) and runs (76), tied for first with 74 hits and tied for third with 11 triples.
- The Mason County Royals play the Harrison County Thorobreds today at 5:30 in the semifinals of the 10th Region Tournament at Mac Whitaker Field in Cynthiana. The game will be on WFTM-FM.
- Mason County senior and Northern Kentucky University signee Layla Henderson broke her own school records in the 1600 meter run and the 3200 meter run at Saturday's region track and field meet. Henderson won both races.
