Mason County routs Newport 48-6 in season opener

The Mason County Royals scored 28 points in the second quarter on their way to a 48-6 season-opening victory over the Newport Wildcats Thursday night at Thomas More University.

Keshaun Thomas completed 10-of-16 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions.

Brady Sanders rushed for two touchdowns and Chad Clark-Roberts had a touchdown reception and ran for another TD.

The Royals' defense did not give up any points. Newport's only touchdown came on an interception return.

Mason County travels to Mt. Sterling next Friday night to play the Montgomery County Indians.
