The Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control covered a number issues today during its final meeting of the 2021-22 school year. Here are a few of the highlights:
- No changes will be made in the Ratings Percentage Index for the 2022 football season because this year's schedules are the same as last season's. Changes could be made after football is realigned for the 2023 season.
- The Board voted to have Commissioner Julian Tackett negotiate to keep the girls' state basketball tournament at Rupp Arena through 2028.
- The Board will look at options for scheduling changes to the 2023, 2024 and 2025 basketball seasons due to conflicts with a convention in 2023 and arenas in 2024 and 2025.
- The Board approved three golf courses for the first round of the revamped state golf tournament. The golf courses for the 2022 season are Owensboro Country Club (Regions 1-4), Heritage Hill Golf Course (Regions 5-8) and Winchester Country Club (Regions 9-12).
- The Board instructed the staff to come with a report concerning potential mandated seeding for district tournaments and standardized seeding rules. The 39th District is one of the few districts in the state that does not use seeding for its basketball tournaments.
