For the first time in school history, two Mason County girls had sub-19 minute runs to lead the Lady Royals cross country team to a fourth place in the Bourbon County Colonel Charge on Saturday.
Layla Henderson finished in eighth place with a time of 18:47.4 and Paige Decker took ninth place with a time of 18:48.3.
Mason County coach Mark Kachler said the program has never had two girls run sub-19s on the same team much less on the same day.
Five of the preseason top 5 girls AA teams competed yesterday and finished in this order:
Christian Academy (Louisville), third
Mason County, fourth
Bourbon County, fifth
Highlands, sixth
Scott, seventh.
Mason County senior Carson Adams finished fifth with a time of 11:20.27 to lead the Royals to a third place finish at the Rowan County Invitational.
