Figures released today by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association show that less than one percent of high school football players and staff have tested positive for COVID-19.
The COVID Response and Mitigation Data is based on information submitted by 190 schools.
There have been 12,722 athletes and staff participating in workouts, and only 96 athletes and just 17 staff or support members have tested positive. That's 0.00888 percent testing positive. No cases have been traced back to football workouts.
All 12,722 participants were not tested. The number of players tested was not included in the data.
Several programs, including Mason County, have had to suspend workouts after a player has tested positive. Mason County resumed workouts last week.
(Updated to change the percentage of positive tests. The graphic from the KFCA showed 0.888 percent. The actual percentage is 0.00888.)
